But on a serious note, could you get Andrew Sachs to officially open it?

I've been reading about this in the Heritage Railway feature with some interest and it's good to see things finally going ahead (before Morayshire's ticket runs out in three years). I hadn't seen anything about plans for a new station though before reading the Scotsman article.

A pic from todays first day of services to Manuel. Morayshire crossing the Avon with the 1530 Bo'ness - Manuel.

    Bekijk bijlage 1098

(My first attempt at uploading a pic with the new system, so apologies if it doesn't work)

Yep, really good photo there, well done. Did you travel? Were the trains full? I don't know how much press the extension has had locally or anything like that.

Good news - have the fares gone up much?

The trains seemed to be well loaded. The official opening isn't for a week or so, which is possibly why there hasn't been extensive media coverage. When I asked earlier in the year, the volunteers weren't 100% sure if it'd be open for the start of the season; perhaps another reason for not advertising it? Standard fares are £6 to Birkhill and £8 to Manuel and I'm pretty sure these are valid for all day travel on normal service days.

No I do not currently volunteer
I suppose just before passengers disembark the announcement is made "Doors to Manuel."

Sorry, too tempting and trivial not to post it!

Well done on the extension by the way, heritage railways are the new, well, big thing!
