Has anyone heard this rumour, expected to take place later in the year, probably steam just one way.

I heard this as well, 'Steam Railway' reported it being planned for October which, if not Stirling, will run at least to Glasgow. An LMS Black 'Duchess' over Beattock looks really tempting not to miss! Scotland is definately seeing a lot more mainline action this year.

Stirling seems a bit of a random destination ?.

Perhaps it's as far as you can reasonably get in a day?

And I've always wanted to see Stirling Castle ... bring it on!

Peter, on a miserable wet Manchester morning

Not at all Stiring has several tourist attractions and is set in a scenic part of Scotland with the Forth flowing through the town. In addition there are turning facilities for the steam locomotive at Larbert via Carmuirs W & E juncs which makes me think it will not be a one way steam run

The only reason I thought it might be steam only one way, it's in the region of 210 miles and therefore a 420 round trip in one day for steam seems a lot, it could easily be over 6 hours each way.

Shame the turntable at Perth was butchered by EWS

The 2002 two day run behind 6201 to Perth looks as though it was the last chance now.

Given that it's only around 20 miles to the triangle at Thornton, I wouldn't have thought steam to/from Perth would be all that difficult. Was it EWS that butchered the turntable?

And then just getting a slap on the wrist instead of being told to make good the damage......
