Through Tilehurst 13.04. Unfortunately it shut off on the approach to the station due to a single yellow at the end of the platform (a local had just left). The signal changed to green as 5029 was halfway through the station so it immediately opened up again. You should hear this in the video. Apart from taking the stock into Paddington, any idea why 47760 was on the rear? The weather seemed too warm to require heating, anyway I think that particular rake is dual heated (the same as used for the royal Duchy?).

Nunney Castle + 12 maroons + 47.760 (yuck) a few mins early through Box and Middle Hill tunnel. Whist waiting for the train I had an interesting conversation with a chap who had flown all the way from New Zealand to follow the Great Britain 3. Now that's dedication for you. <BJ>

Sorry Martin, my mistake. The consist was a chocolate and cream support coach plus 11 maroons .....and a box. I would imagine that for the next two days the stock would be 11 maroon coaches from Bristol to Plymouth and an additional 2 maroon support coaches on the return. At least the green Mk.2 coach has disappeared from Saturday. <BJ>

Saw her through Tilehurst as well - you could hear her accelerating out of Reading but as buseng said annoyingly she was shut off on the approach to the station. Bit of a Castle fest down here at the moment - great stuff!

My rather poor mobile offering is here: http://www.twitvid.com/08N7J

Nice picture of me! Stood on the other platform at the end of the video, dark trousers with white stripes.

She crawled round the bend just before the sight of Goring troughs (Basildon) but was then cracked open and barked her way towards us on the road bridge. Nunney looked superb and a real credit to her support crew who had obviously been very busy with their big box of Brasso cans!

Don't know what had happened to D1015 following behind though as a few of us waited and it didn't turn up. I gave up waiting after an hour.

    Couple of quick questions,chaps...
Where did it pick it's heading board up,when it left Paddington it was only the Large Numbers, lamps and flags?

...secondly,at Paddington the support crew were busy extracting coal from the tender through cab, putting it into wheel barrow, and rushing it along to the support coach?.
    Perhaps a fry up...!

    Just wondered...

Well, the end of day 1,very enjoyable so far and a great run with 5029 from London, especially after Reading.Did anyone get a shot at Didcot as we really powered through there?

Some fantastic sound effects which still make Nunney my favorite Castle,no matter what others will say.

My photos will be on later.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I was originally going to go for a conventional type shot, but with it gradually clouding over I opted for a pan shot but made a bit of a mess of it. Not one of my better ones I'm afraid, but here's 5029 near Newton St. Loe.

Nunney Castle has departed from Bristol. It passed Oldfied Park, Bath at 17:32.

    Thanks to Mark Pope. <BJ>
