Caught 'Princess Elizabeth' at Thirsk this afternoon and she was going well and on time too. Then caught 'Bittern' just north of Doncaster also going well and on time, though there was a noisy person in a Helicopter trailing the train, are RTC filming the tour or was there someone important on board?

And so it all comes to an end - so fittingly with a chime whistle into Platform Seven at Kings Cross - Bittern back where she belongs

Seven early at the Cross - a splendid few days amongst friends on and off train, from the UK and across the pond - except the one foul mouth at the Cross who made a point of having a snarl - perhaps because he doesn't like good looking cars - his problem.

The weather, route and locos available all combined to make a splendid few days for everyone, tour participants, professional observers, and pure vacationers like us, enjoying the best of the UK with the added sparkle of steam.

The engine management - particularly with a problematical K4 has been second to none. The operational management by WCRC has again been first class dealing with all the problems that 2010 has thrown up.

    Well done to all involved.

Now lets hope this HST gets me back to my car, and my car home to my own bed sometime in the early hours

Well said Frank, once again the whole trip has worked despite obstacles turning up before and during the event. The amount of frantic work in the background must have been enormous, I'll bet all concerned will now be heaving a sigh of relief, and probably saying "never again".
We shall see, anyway well done to all concerned, I don't think it's fair to single out any particular person, group or loco, they have all pulled together and deserve equal praise.

i would just like to make a comment on the quality of stuart brown's pictures,i like the angles he chooses which reminds me of the pictures that appeared in the railway magazines of the past, showing the locos at their best and to my eyes giving the impression of power and movement.his pictures always appear lovely and sharp especially compared to some of the rubbish that appears that some drool over!for me stuart brown's method of portraying the train he photographs reminds of the style of the famous railway photographers of the past,i would love to see what he would make of saturday's 'bristolian' where he down in the south!i would like to know the camera he is using.

knightoftheblackeagle you are going to have Stuart going all embarrassed with such comments, but I have to agree, he does have that certain something that makes his shots stand out, :hail: there are only one or two others who reach the same standard.

There are more than one or two photographers on this forum whose standards I aspire to.

I'll just upload the one pic from GBIII as I've not too much attachment space left, so here's The Marquess skirting the Beauly Firth shortly after sunrise on Monday morning:

It really was a cracking tour again and once more the weather gods were well and truly on our side with some sunny pics obtained on every day :) I'd like to echo the sentiments of the other posters and say a big thankyou to everyone who made it happen.

Brilliant, and I like the way you have captured the steam trail curving right out of shot to the right.

the picture of the k4 is a stunning beautiful picture.i would think a collection from one or two photographers that contribute to the forum would have the makinggs of a rather nice book.i've already commented on stuart brown's efforts.

That is superb! I very nearly went up to Inverness last Sunday to try and chase the outward run, but I figured the cost of accomodation, car hire and travel would make it very expensive for possibly a couple of photos. I wish I'd gone now!
