The Corwen Patriot Gala, Llangollen Railway 23rd - 25th April

Looks like an early start for me on the Saturday on the Black 5. 1st train we have is 8.50am from Llangollen, so that would probably mean a 4.00am start. Sunday on 5643 looks a more easier day!

 

Same happened last september. The obvious doubleheading choice would be 78019 and 80072, but it never happened.

And from a brief look at the timetable for this gala it wouldn't be too much of a issue to doublehead the two stanier loco's atleast once on the Saturday...

I suppose they didn't have much time to start afresh with the timetable...

It doesn't look too bad otherwise.

 

A departure from Llangollen approximately every 30 minutes looks pretty good to me

 

Wonder where that idea came from.... Really surprised the 2 stanier locos aren't DH, surely that would be the obvious combination?

 

Aye you would have thought so and it had been discussed, looks like 2968 has just taken the place of 78019, anyway a day on the auto for me on the sat

 

Would anyone know how much the rideable goods is? I have a friend coming from Ellesmere Port on the Sunday.

 

The freight is an extra £5 on top of the day rover I think

A really enjoyable gala indeed! Some wonderful sound effects from 80072 and 42968; she really lives up to her 'Mighty Mogul' status!! Some lovely weather to boot made it such a brilliant day.

 

Been today also. Lovely weather,excelent locomotives. all kept to times. Very friendly groups, nice to see diferent preservation societies there. ie canals, steam boats. Hope my money will help the push to corwen. will be right back there to be on the train to corwen.
