NYMR Steam

A report seen elsewhere says that today there is only one steam locomotive available for traffic today on the NYMR, namely 49395.
A number of engines are still undergoing "winter maintenance", 825 has been stopped with a firebox defect, and 44871 has been derailed in Grosmont shed yard.

Fingers crossed that this is the "low point" for them, and things get better from now on.

They've had it really rough for these past few months. I'm fairly confident that it won't be just 49395 that will be in action next week and that it will turn into quite a special gala.

 

Situation improving already. 30926 steam tested a couple of days ago, 76079 was only stopped for wash out & exam and 45428 is undergoing snagging after its rebuild.

60007 has had the new valve liners fitted, NELPG continue to progress the Q6 and the S&D shouldn't be too far away.

On the down side, 75029 needs rather more boiler work than was anticipated. As for the S15, a proper evaluation is necessary to determine what is required.

As always, anyone who wants to help out on Grosmont loco will be very welcome!

Thats positive news steven, do you no wat is likely to be running tuesday/wednesday as was hoping for a short visit to get a ride behind the Super D.

 

Not hopeful - the Super D needs a washout (76079 and 30926 having gone as long as they could without washouts , which is sort how we got to where we were yesterday in part) and will be pulled as soon as an alternative 3rd loco is available - possibly Monday or Tuesday.
