That is correct. Due to a lack of time the paperwork was not able to be completed in time for '518 to depart from the NVR after their gala last weekend.
We have now taken up the kind offer of '264 instead....

May I politely refer you to response Number 19 on 11/3/10.
We try not to keep any information from our friends on NP so don't feel you HAVE to use another Forum for Swanage Diesel info.
However, PD's Forum is equally as nice of course so keep looking at both.
Hope you'll be able to visit the Gala. Not many weeks/days to go .......

Despite Swanage TIC having a large list of accommodation I'm hearing that ALL single rooms in Swanage are now FULLY BOOKED - and there's still just over 6 weeks to go

Not sure which bands/musicians are providing the free musical entertainment [on Friday and Saturday nights in Harmans Cross Beer Tent] but, no doubt, Lewisb06 will post as soon as everything is sorted 8)

In case you are a stranger to the area visiting our event for the first time [and the Beer Festival at Harmans Cross Beer Marquee doesn't quite quench that thirst!] then the following may assist you to find the occasional odd [very odd sometimes] libation :
    http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/results.shtml/el/Swanage;Dorset/

This ought to be followed by 'safe drinking' wordage of course - but you are (mostly) all Adults with the responsibilities that go with it !! Just to let you know that Dorset Constabulary are 'Red Hot' on drink-drivers and are currently on a "No Excuses" campaign. You have been warned.

Hot off the WNXX Presses ...........

"Just to confirm 50026 will not now be attending the Swanage Gala. Unfortunately despite our best efforts to get it ready there are still problems outstanding with the loco that require sorting prior to a first public outing and, as such, we have taken the reluctant decision to withdraw it and advise Swanage that we can no longer supply the loco. We did however prior to this speak to the class 50 Alliance as regards to the possibility of them supplying one of their locos [50035] as a replacement to avoid disappointment to both Swanage and the 'vaclads' who had already made plans etc to attend the Gala.
I’m hopeful that this should be OK however I feel it should be down to either the Fifty Fund or the organizing committee from Swanage to confirm 50035 as and when agreement is reached for it being the replacement.
    Darryl Tebbs, 50026"

Hopefully 50035 "Ark Royal" [Loadhaul Black/Orange] will be coming - subject to negotiations of course.

Had a request from our Museum Collection Officer regarding his 'PREVIOUSLY TREASURED' sales stall at Corfe Castle Station. ALL funds raised from these sales go to the Swanage Railway Trust [Reg'd Charity] helping to improve and enlarge our Museum in Corfe Castle Goods Shed
Just to let you know that he will have a bigger display of his sales stock of Books, DVDs and Videos during all three Diesel Gala days.
Needless to say the subject matter for most (all?) of his stock will be modern traction. So, if you need to add to your collection please get off at Corfe Castle Station, during your visit to the Gala, and spend some time [and money of course!] searching for that special item or items.
    Shop early for Christmas!!

'Late-ish Breaking News' about the shuttle bus
Despite lengthy efforts we are unable to run the Wareham Station - Norden Park & Ride shuttle bus this year.
News delayed due to the relevant organiser having been involved in moving house and being without t'interweb.
Many apologies to readers planning to use this service.
Alternative Wilts & Dorset bus services are:
Route 50 hourly service from Bournemouth Interchange Station to Swanage Interchange Station

Route 40 hourly service from Wareham Station to Corfe Castle [5 min walk to/from our station] or Swanage Interchange Station

To put all of the speculation to rest....this is the correct gen regarding line up for Swanage .

As already mentioned recently 50135 is now replacing 50026 which is now unable to attend for reasons previously mentioned ....previous coments have been a bit premature regarding this as we have only just (today) actually agreed its hire. And 45133 is replacing 33035 due to the timescale the owner of the 33 wants complete it's overhaul rather than rushing it for our event,...which we at Swanage fully understand and would like to thank both loco owners for keeping us fully updated on the progress of their relevant locos. Both locos will be invited back next year (if they are avaliable!).

So the revised line up now is:-

    08436
    31271
    33103
    33111
    37264
    45133
    47580
    50135
    56101
    73119
    Plus the VEP of course.

As it stands the locos for the beerex and dinex on Fri and Sat night will be:-
    Fri - 33111 beerex - 31271 dinex
    Sat -37264 beerex - 47580 dinex

Regarding running visiting locos the following weekend, this hopefully will be happening, but again until nothing has been finalised with the loco owners.

The Swanage Railway is also going to be releasing a dvd of the first 5 years of diesel galas on the line,it is being produced by Locomaster Profiles so good viewing is guarenteed! ...more gen on that to appear shortly.

I hope this ansewrs all the speculation that has been going around

Now now, Lewis. You know that only Official Fat Blokes like what I am get dibs at the biccies.

And anyway, if we don't get lots of push-pull I'm going to weigh you down with ballast in yer boots and chuck you in the harbour. Worse yet I may set the Bruce Forsythe impersonator on you. Worse even than that I may not buy you a pint....

    Oooh. Bona!
Don't you just love it when such two such Titans of the witty phrase have a Bijou Spat-ette.

    More, More!

Must remember to buy two packs of choccie biccies to stop favouritism.

Two packets of choccie biccies purchased today to keep you both happy [and stop arguing]!
If you want a BIG mug of tea then you'll have to extract one from Wimbledon stores. Lol

    Fair play!

We are very much looking forward to getting 3417 down to the Swanage again - and for the first time under Bluebell Railway ownership, as well. Who would have thought that a year or so back, when everyone (myself included, to my shame) honestly believed that East Grinstead would be where the old girl fell to rack and ruin?

Hopefully this will be the first of many excursions to foreign climes; first EMU to the North Yorks or the Severn Valley, anyone?!

The proof-reading process is still ongoing, but I have to say this one looks a bit special. Looking forward to it immensely, even if it does look like hard work for the poor Norden shunter :fear:!
