Would that be a certain Dave Parker pictured here with Pete Waterman (just!)?

    Cheers

That certainly would be, now I can forward it to his employer..
Only a joke as my brother Dave works for himself. He's got a few jobs on at the moment but took time off to fire over the weekend. His day job? Building gorgeous gauge 1 locomotives under the name of Buxton Model Works.

The board of Directors of Peak Rail plc has tonight (Wednesday 12th May 2010) received a formal request from the General Manager of the East Lancashire Railway of the possibility of hiring 8F Steam Locomotive 48624 before its contract ends with Peak Rail plc on Monday 31st May 2010.

The board of directors of Peak Rail plc are delighted to be able to assist the East Lancashire Railway in their request and the locomotive is set for a possible departure to pastures new (providing transport is available) on Monday 17th May 2010.

Peak Rail plc directors understand from the conversation with the General Manager of the East Lancashire Railway that 48624 will go from ELR to the Churnet Valley Railway as previously arranged with the Directors of 48624 Locomotive Company on Thursday 3rd June 2010.

Here I am - sorry for the delay. I can confirm that 8624 will head to Bury on Monday for a two and a half week visit, assisting us considerably with a short term steam shortage on the ELR. The loco is likely to see quite a lot of use during its brief stay due to our traffic requirements, so should be a good visit for all concerned. We are delighted that the 48624 Locomotive Company has agreed to our request for a short period loan, but we also have to acknowledge the assistance and cooperation of both Peak Rail plc and the Churnet Valley Railway in this process, which has also been gratefully appreciated.

8624 will still move to the CVR for its hire on 3 June and I believe it will be entering traffic shortly after its arrival at Cheddleton. Sure someone from the CVR can advise a little nearer the time.

    Regards

8624 will be steamed and tested at the CVR on Friday 4th June and all being well will enter service the following day. Assuming that there are no issues with the engine 8624 will haul the majority of services in June/ July whilst 5199 is stopped for its annual boiler exam/ maintanence

    Regards

    Chris

8624 safely arrived at Bury this afternoon and should be being unloaded as I type. It is hoped that it will enter passenger service on Thursday this week and will then be in use on every operating day until the end of May. Once again, our grateful thanks to the 48624 Locomotive Company Ltd, Peak Rail plc and the Churnet Valley Railway for all their assistance and I look forward to seeing 8624 running on the ELR later in the week.
