Sounds like a fantastic line up! I'm about to send off for an invitation, and I'm really looking forward to going. After going last March, it will certainly be a great day!

Had a great day at Statfold yesterday as usual so a big thank you to everyone for organising the event. Saccharine looked and sounded awesome, it's much bigger than I thought it would be bbut is magnificently turned out. Loudest loco for me was Gertrude who's owner looked to be having a great time.

    Roll on June!

Well the report from the footplate on Gertrude is this. WOW! I was only firing, but we had the sunroof open for a couple of trips and to see that column of steam shooting into the sky as we made our full regulator charges up the bank into Oak Tree was something else. Pity that we failed to get into the main station on one trip, but hey, that was all part of the fun, and as much Shaun's fault as mine!

To the guys at Statfold, thankyou for an amazing day!

    John

Thanks John for crewing with Shaun all day glad to have you in the team .From the Engineers point of view I was impressed with the performance of GERTRUDE on the steep banks with heavy load , since she has been finished and visited several locations , all but one of which I was at, her performance has credited her.
Having made the initial selection to take the project on, to rebuild her, to run what I proposed was up to a 10 mile round trip on the L&B in Devon she has proved herself, to first look and act the part and second has also the power and adhesion to handle any trainstock on some fairly steep gradients.
Further than that she is very efficient on coal and water and a delight to ride on the footplate, being very well balanced and having very smooth regulator control combined with the Stephensons Inside Link that gives her good low speed traction for getting away with a load. All in all a lot of impressed people who enjoyed seeing her in action many for the first time .
A big thank you to the Statfold Organisation for putting on yet another fantastic day and inviting Exmoor Transport to attend with Gertrude. We hope we came up to your expectations gathered amongst some fine specimens of Narrow Gauge restoration. Thanks to everyone for a good day. Andy
