    I guess this'll be favourite for those in the north west that can make it and Olton Hall only on a positioning move for those futher south, then there's the Royal Scot two days later, she wont be black forever, I'm looking forward to seeing the results in pics and vids.

    weathers not enticeing, think I'll wait till this evening, looks brighter, 5972 on the sheltered local station in the mean time.

    Hmm.. it was raining here at 10.30, didn't last long, was dry by the time hogwarts came through, now it looks much brighter.

    Doh! yep, got confused, 6233 0n saturday up this way, 60019 on the east coast, I'm on my usual good form. thanks Ralph and Alberta.

    Not completely. All you have to do is go on a tour and look at the amount that comes through the window.

    Smuts through the window are very very small, and COLD, which prove the spark arrestor has done its job.

    Lineside fires, if proven to come from 60019 - and the circumstantial evidence seems to eliminate any other cause, can only be caused by much larger 'lumps' leaving the smokebox and remaining red-hot throughout their trajectory into fields/heathland/etc. One part of the mesh may have become distorted - but it takes only one enlarged hole to lead to problems when the loco is working very hard. Let's hope the team can find the problem and get it sorted very quickly.

    This tour seems to have aroused surprisingly little comment, especially since it was reportedly Bittern's first run over the Settle & Carlisle for over 40 years (can anybody confirm this pse?) and since it may have been Bittern's last run for some time.
