Just a few frustrating little teething problems and nothing that can't be solved. Our crews that have been on it so far have commented on what a nice loco it is, but we need to ensure that any problems that have surfaced over the past couple of days are resolved before we put it back into use.

I was out on the lineside yesterday with a filming location manager, when the 8F went past and it really did look the part at the head of an eight coach train. This latest setback is just a minor glitch and hopefully we can get it back out as soon as possible early next week. Next weekend is our 1940s Wartime Weekend and well worth a visit and 8624 should hopefully be playing its part in assisting the war effort.

    Regards

I'm sure the 1940s event will be great Andy, and best wishes for a great one - unfortunately I'm off to Cornwall on Friday (and working through the week!)

Though the above gen was too late for me (I was already on my way to the ELR when I got a call, should've checked here this morning!), I'd like to thank Andy for going to the effort of posting the information to keep people informed. Luckily, there was a decent diesel in action for the day (37109) to keep me entertained, although I did have a quick leap on the Duke.

Looks and sounds fantastic, nice to see it stretch it's legs at last! A personal plea, please don't paint it into boring old black anytime soon, that maroon really does suit it!

After some care and attention at Baron Street Locomotive Works yesterday 8624 has successfully re-entered service on the ELR today and will now hopefully be in use every day between now and next Monday (1940s Wartime Weekend this weekend). Grateful thanks to the owning group and also the ELR's steam department for their efforts in getting the loco back into traffic as soon as possible.

    Regards

Don't know the full details, but as far as I know the tender axleboxes were running hot on Friday and they received some attention. The loco has run today with no problems and looked absolutely fantastic when I saw it this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing some of the owning group over the weekend and making contact with some old friends from my time at Peak Rail.

    Regards

Looking forward to seeing the 8F this coming weekend. Anybody able to tell me what else should be in service at the war weekend?

Just as accurate for the 1940s as 71000 and 8624 in Maroon, should the ELR not run them too?

Some excellent photos there Graham. Do like the one where you have changed the livery! Quite impressive.
