30777 "Sir Lamiel" and 44871 double head "The Royal Wessex" today (Saturday) from Paddington to Weymouth.
30777 comes off at Wareham, after banking the train from Weymouth, and travels to Swanage [hopefully around 20:15 arrival].
We have obtained NRM agreement to use "Sir Lamiel" on our steam service trains on 25th, 26th, and 27th May.
On BH Monday 31st May 44871 is scheduled to haul the first of three "The Swanage Belle" railtours from London with 30777 hauling the return leg. No times have been posted as yet.
We have been successful in being allowed to use 44871 on 1st, 2nd and 3rd June on our scheduled services.
It is believed this will be the first time either class have been used on the Swanage Branch.
Departures for these 'special' steam services can be found on our Green timetable on: http://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/n-timetable.htm

Thanks for this info. Peter. It's good to hear 44871 has been rostered for the ML run. Riley International Rescue saves the day once again.

Shame you can't keep 30585! I went to Swanage on Saturday for a couple of rides behind it, a very nice way of spending a few hours. Shame the photo charter was cancelled during the week, the loco seemed to suit the line quite well. Obviously it could be a different matter if it's raining.

unfortunately 30777 will no longer be running on swanage railway this week as the 5305 loco group have withdrawn the locomotive from use to carry out some repairs before its railtour on monday 31st.

Sorry for any inconvience to anyone who may of been planning to travel down

I thoroughly enjoyed my run behind the Well Tank on Saturday. I thought the driving was really smooth - my previous experiences with both members of the class tended towards the jerky both in accelerating and braking. They are gorgeous locos, always easy on the eye and the ear!

I'm sure this will not be the last time a Beattie 'graces' our tracks - and we might even try to get some 'Victorian' period coaches at the same time.

Hopefully minor repairs. Perhaps 777 doesn't like the water down south?! Shame we can't use it.

What loco is rostered for Thursday? I was planning a trip down to see Lamiel but I'm likely (weather depending) to come down still anyway.

More than likely will be 80104, as 34070 is stopped for a washout, the M7 is stopped with a Piston issue and 6695 is awaiting repairs as well. 34028 is the only other serviceable engine at present but as the standard was out at the weekend I'd guess she'll stay out.

34070 appeared to be having work on its valves on Saturday. It was on the turntable split from its tender.

I was alluding to the "helpful" advice over on the Clan Line did they/ didn't they work (injectors) thread. If everyone on this forum has no sense of humour like you then I won't post any more news.

I think it might be quite hard to convey that sense of humor without first mentioning the clan line bit.
It is good to hear the news but why make the news irritating to read in that writing style?
    Lighten up a bit!
On the plus side good to hear 44871 is coming down to Swanage

The point is how can we moderate if members don't report it, at the moment there are just 3 of us on line, so we cannot watch every post in every thread. Someone posts something that you think is out of order then tell us....

I hear 30777 should be leaving Swanage railway at 10.34 and arriving at Eastleigh about 14.08. The return trip will leave Eastleigh at 15.19 and arriving at Swanage about 18.26.

Hi all. Sorry to veer off topic somewhat, but is there any way of finding out in advance what engine will be rostered for a particular day on the Swanage? I only ask as I am due to visit in June, and am DESPERATELY hoping it'll be Manston!
