In terms of naming trains howzabout "The Royal Banker" ?

I have heard from sources that train is booked at Bromsgrove 18:50 - 19:35 but I presume will depart as soon as a path is available earlier; uk steam yet to confirm times as I write.

I'm on this just for a day out and apart from it being my first time up the Lickey banked by steam the other bit I'm looking forward to is 9600 pulling the train up St. Andrews bank. The residents of Small Heath will certainly hear us coming!! And with a bit of luck the noise will shake that football ground to bits.:bounce:

    Saltydog.....
Won't 46201 take the train out of Tyseley and through Moor Street and Snow Hill en route to Kidderminster and beyond? 9600 would only be needed to pull the train up St Andrews bank if it was heading south via Camp Hill & the Lickey but I don't think it is .... Or am I missing something here? The banking loco will only be needed for the return via the Lickey and then be dragged all the way to Washwood Heath. After reversal it will head the train back to Tyseley it will descend St Andrews bank.

I can assure you it is a steep old climb from Washwood Heath up past the football ground.

Maybe a good look at Google Earth to plan your route and then some fast but safe driving will get you there.

My tickets have just arrived in today's post, with apologies for lateness due to Network Rail's train planning problems.

Away from Tyseley at 0800, arrive Didcot 1235; leave Didcot 1515 arrive back at Tyseley 2057.

Tickets for GWS Didcot pre-bookable on train to avoid queues on arrival. Train stops both ways at Swindon - wondering whether to try and see Steam as well ...

    Should be a good day!

Good to hear that confirmed timings are now out & about :)
I take it the train must have quite a layover in Swindon if you think you have enough time to visit Steam.

It stops at Swindon at 1150 on the way to Didcot, and at 1617 on the return. On this basis, should be poissible to do GWS and Steam, with a quick FGW HST ride in the middle.

I'm sure the times will be on uksteam soon, be patient :) says he biting his nails!
I'd doubt 9600 would go to spetchley as it would probably need to go down to Gloucester and come back up, whereas it could reverse at Droitwich and go back to Bromsgrove - but hey just speculation again on my part.

@pjhliners Thanks for clearing that up for me.

    Stephen.

The only timings that came with my ticket is for the pick up/drop off stations only, there is no other information regarding the attachment of the banker etc. Perhaps uksteam will have those tonight.

    Stephen,

you keep coming on and asking for timings. If they are not up on U.K. steam the chances are that no one has them as yet.

Network Rail seem to have suffered from computer problems this week and while this is unfortunate, to say the least, we are all just going to be patient waiting for timings for the train(s) we wish to see this week end.

Spare a thought for the tour operators, some of whom are having to telephone passengers to advise them of their pick up/set down times as they have received the times from NR too late to rely on the post delivering them in time!

I doubt it would even need to go any further than the South end of Bromsgrove, banking is still a regular occurence on the Lickey so i'd be suprised if there's not a crossover in the vicinity of Bromsgrove that the signalling allows for regular use of, only difference i can see is the Banker won't be dropping off at Blackwell.

Stephen, please understand that tour operators first priority is to the people that have parted with their hard earned cash to travel on the train. And if occasionally happens NR have problems with TRUST then timings will be made public later than normal.
I work at TYS and yesterday at lunchtime the only confirmed time I had was 08.04 off TYS. So please everyone please be patient. It isn't because we want the timings to be a state secret. It's usually for reasons such as pathing problems or for operational reasons such as a Royal Train.
As usual, despite the late publication of the times for this train I expect the grapevine will work as usual and look forward to seeing the results of linesiders efforts on here and on Youtube.

But I would think 9600 will go down via Kiddy.
