Geograph

I'm a member of Geograph, an online community sponsored by the OS
You upload photos and map them, it is useful to us for spotting locations etc.


I have 900 plus photos on there, they under the creative commons licence. So can end up everywhere like wikipedia, websites and search engines.
You still own the copyright but others have the right to use them but must say the picture is yours and provide a link to you geograph homepage.

Its time consuming, you have to take time on each photo and not just dump them online but you do get recognition for your effort in competitions like geograph of the year.

I joined last year and it's enjoyable, it's free and well worth it.

I'm a member too! It's a great resource for publishers too and hi-res versions of several of my "geograph" images have been requested and published in various tourist guide books. The search tools are very powerful - have a go!

The Creative Commons licence arrangements work very well and I'd advise use of these by anyone who runs a website.

On you personal map I can definitely tell you like taking pictures of a certain railway!

 

I had planned to catch the outbound as it passed through Meyrick Park, but was scuppered by the fact that it went though half an hour early! Although I caught it on the return instead, that was in failing light so the results are a bit grainier than I'd like.
