Given the length of the day and late finish plus the risk that 6201's fire might have got rather tired maybe , just maybe it was considered prudent not to risk any late running or loss of path so assistance was brought into play . I'm sure we would have had a similar level of grief had lizzie suffered steaming problems and assistance had to be called givent he attendant late arrival

Thinking about this I have this thought to offer.
Getting me of the train was achieved with some difficulty due to the cant of the track on the curve making the gradient on the ramp really scary.
Once I was off and clear and the tip was given Lizzie said no and refused to move, after a couple of tries rolling back she got going so I assume TDC.
Quite a big slip on starting but away she went sounding great.
Steam was not a problem rather the reverse Lizzie being quite a noisy nuisance for a while.
What may have caused the help further up Hatton Bank was the closeness of a service train behind and the need to get clear of it.
To campainr saw your video at the top of Hatton Bank agree the 47 was pushing there it was your calling it Budbrooke bridge that threw me as Budbrooke is right adjacent to Warwick Parkway.
I still think Vintage Trains gave us all a great day out with all the problems (if you don't Know what I mean read your letter again) I enjoyed the trip and I'm sure most of the others on the train did too.

    Cheers Dave

There was an anouncement on the train during the loco change at Foxhall Jn that 'Princes Elizabeth will be with us for the rest of the day back to Oxford'. I think this was simply a slip of the tongue and that this was not in fact the plan but it did give rise to some speculation and rumour.
