I see that UK Steam marks a change from relief line to main line after Twyford, I guess it's at the points beside the field at Milley Road. I think I will go there, it should be pulling away nicely under the bridge! And I imagine it means it will probably be slowing down for the points as it goes through Twyford. Reading station should be good but it looks like it is not stopping there, just passing on platform 8.

Still a very nice photo. Presumably you have the software to crop it a little if you want to do that?

Thanks Bryan, yes I do. I thought I would just get the photo up early. I'll crop it when I put it on my Fotopic site. I was videoing at the same time and have a nice clip of the HST passing, the HST only needed to be 10 seconds later!

I understand from a contact with the train that it will depart BTM with steam, but Network Rail have said any more fires and a diesel will be put on!

Time to start a rain dance!

Might of got away with it Saturday, but steam could of been the culprit today. As far as I can see there is still no let up in these parched Sahara Desert conditions for at least the next week.
Again steam bans, hose pipe bans, you name it will be brought in.

5029 + 6024 through Keynsham in RAIN!! The rain dance has worked. The train is running 18 late but will probably get looped at Bathampton to let a London bound HST overtake.
I understand from a railway employee that trains were held up on Saturday because of the King . A severe lineside fire was reported between Westbury and Frome. <BJ>

You are absolutely right Martin, no sign of a green coach anywhere! It's very rare the whole plan comes together like it did on Saturday, happy days indeed :)

That is one of the finest photos i have ever seen at Dawlish. So much better when taken in the evening light like that.

There was a whole procession of HST's going up just prior to the steam. Most if not all would have come from the Swindon direction.

As I said in my text, the pair absolutely stormed through Tilehurst with no sign of braking for Reading. Before I knew it I received a text saying they had passed Woodley about 5-6 mins later! Box 37516 was playing tail end Charlie about 5 mins behind. At least it was not attached to the train. For those who know the area, how long would it take to drive from Tilehurst to Woodley? Even at that time of night.

Tell me about it, Reading is going to be renamed traffic light city. A new set seems to spring up on a weekly basis. Probably takes half hour to get round the Loddon Bridge/A329M/Woodley roundabout.
