There is now only just over 3 weeks to go before this train is due to run and there still appears to be no booking arrangements in place. Does anyone know if it is still planned to operate this train as it is going to be extremely difficult to fill it in the short time that is now left.

Reasonable departure time and fares. If I wasn't working on this one I'd definitely be tempted.

Tickets arrived today. Nicely packaged with a modern style machine produced ticket. Like it. Now I need to know how to photograph, video and ride on the train all at the same time.

According to latest Steam Railway, the two headshunts are to be slewed together for this trip...and then slewed back again afterwards.
The reduced traffic levels because of diversions mean that 9600 can run round in the main down platform at Princes R without getting in the way, and get a 35 mph path.

Won't she run backwards on the day? In which case isn't 35mph is the limit?

OK Thanks I didn't know that. 45mph backwards on the footplate of a pannier tank must be a bit hairy!

Although panniers were known to reach 70 on the GWGCJ in steam days with the Banbury - Risborough stopper.

The 14xx had relatively large driving wheels so 70-ish would have been less hairy on one of them than on a Pannier. I've noticed the way some Panniers appear to "waddle" at 20-ish on preserved lines. Even allowing for smoother track and deeper ballast on the GWGCJ, 70 must have been a hell of a ride!!

Any ideas as to how and when the pannier and ecs get to Banbury and return to Tyseley.

As I said earlier in the thread diesel on the front and 9600 light steam inside, as for times we all wait with baited breath to see what the new super duper NR computer comes up with.
Going by the times published on the Chiltern website I'd guess at about 8.30ish off TYS.
