A 37/7, I believe, is 120 tons so if the diesel is 'dead' the load would be almost 16 coaches. That is just more than is going to be possible unassisted. I am sure 5029 would have managed 12 but circa 520 t tare / 540 gross? No.

Fair enough, only reporting what I can hear from the 7th carriage.

Currently sat awaiting the single line at Swindon, there's an arrival from Cheltenham due into Swindon at 1333. By the time were on the move we'll be about an hour down.

Reported from the train that 37 is doing majority of work....presume Nunney is not going to leave first valve?

Definitely glad I didn't go to Tilehurst then, shan't waste my time tonight either. I thought about going on this some time ago but didn't get round to it. What a relief, pay £70-£80 to be dragged around by a maroon box all day-no way! I've got better things to do with my money. I think it would be better to cancel these trips in the summer & run them when it is not so hot & dry.

Over an hour late through Cheltenham, why oh why did I hang around?
Located a good 3 miles out and a level road I thought where I was would be a good spot for Nunney to be making some noise.
Not so, all the 37. I like 37's but not when it's a steam tour.
I think there will be people on board with justification to moan.

To be honest,if Nunney is going to do nothing at all, they may as well of just put the 37 on. Thats better than having a thrash barrier (support coach) and wasting coal and water.

People might moan, but i doubt anyone will get anything back, its just an unfortunate turn of events. Steam loco there, raring to go but its not allowed to do anything because of a few dry blades of grass.

No rain before Saturday for the Central Wales, wonder if we will be ok there? Plenty to set alight on that line.

With regards the actual tour, any updates whether it left on the return run on time?

A Few minutes down arriving into Swindon. Good to see a GWR Loco running through Swindon! Shame about the 37 behind it though.. ;)
