Given the lack of Rain , what's he risk that the diesel stays on the train as far as you can say ?

Love panniers but they can throw a few hot rocks even with the best of spark arrestors

In case anybody is intending use Chilterm Railways services to get from Marylebone to Banbury to join the train on Saturday, please note that the line is closed between High Wycombe and Princes Risborough for engineering work. There appears to be just one service per hour through to Banbury which is diverted via Aylesbury. Alternatively, travel from Paddington and change at Reading or Oxford.

Note that the online journey planners don't show this engineering work, but the revised Chiltern timetable is available HERE

Anyone know what's planned to happen at Chinnor? If everybody has to leave the train I think it's going to be a bit crowded as I suspect that there will already be lots of people there to see the train arrive.

I suspect that the lack of normal services is the only reason that this train can run.

Yes - I wasn't complaining about the engineering work, but merely pointing it out in case anyone intending to travel from Marylebone had not noticed it (as I mentioned, the online journey planners have not been updated).

Indeed, I notice in the revised Chiltern timetable that there is a southbound service from Banbury at about 10 past every hour, except 10 o'clock - I'm guessing that this was left out specifically to leave a path for the pannier!

I haven't heard anything about the diesel staying on the train, as far as I know it's still coming off at Banbury.
Looking out of the window this morning it rained during the night and more is forecast for today.

Saw 9600 at Kings Sutton coming back and very smart she looks too, a credit to all who look after her.

A Voyager crawled north just before 9600 turned up and stopped at the signal near the main roadbridge for no good reason that we could see. After it had gone a southbound Voyager came past with the horn on for many seconds - possible trespass reported ?

Because of the Voyager stopping, 9600 crawled up to the signal before opening the regulator..............and of course the sun came out 2 mins after the Pannier went through.

Splendid performance from 9600 and crew today with 7 coaches on. I chased her from Chinnor to Princes Risborough to Bicester, will post a clip later.

Thanks to all who were involved in organising and running this trip.

Little bit on this on BBC South Today. Showed 9600 at Banbury with a couple of short interviews.

Had a great day today chasing the train on the Chiltern services, will upload my video tomorrow.

Believe it or not, as seen from the Chiltern preceeding 9600, under the M40 roadbridge was a man with a tripod, standing less than 6 feet (no joke) from the up line, and with him, two young children whose combined age probably wouldn't reach double figures, one boy and one girl, the boy (5 to 7 years old) with one of his feet on the rail of the 90/100mph line. I just hope that if he is reading this, he will reconsider before taking himself, and even worse, his two young children into such a dangerous position again.

However, please don't exhaust this thread with comments about this. I was only giving an explanation for the delay on the return journey.

Yes but on a lighter note everyone else I think was very well behaved, helped by the Chiltern staff who organised everything very well.

I have uploaded a video of lots of locations including the ECS runs here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQqDoD4ustY
