My Dad's b/w steam images

Hi all

I've finally finished scanning all of my Dad's old b/w images he took back in the late 1950's/early 1960's and uploaded them onto my fotopic site, some have scanned well others not. The majority were taken around Eastbourne Engine Shed but there are also some early Bluebell images, Eastleigh Open Day, Folkestone, Dover, Kings Cross, Paddington, Reading General, Ashford, Southampton, Isle of Wight and Woking. Oh dear! Those pictures of Reading. Memories of many a childhood hour spent there in the early 1960's. Always remember Reading Bridge House being built (the building behind the Warship). Still standing now. I may of met your dad in that era. Thanks for showing them.

 

Thanks for the comments, my Dad always says he wished he'd taken more photos back in the steam days but in those times black & white film was fairly expensive and you only got around 8 shots per film. He always remembers the fun he and fellow spotters/photters had at Eastbourne Engine Shed trying to avoid the shed foreman as if he saw them he would chuck lumps of coal at them and chase them off shed. But there was always a good escape route, adjacent to the shed yard was an allotments with a small ditch and bridge and this provided a good "rat-run" for the enthusiasts.

 

Great pics, but somewhat lost with the background you have used.

 

Yes I must admit I am thinking of changing the wallpaper to maybe a black background as it does affect how the thumbnails stand out against it. Among the favourites of his collection were his shots of the K class moguls at Eastbourne and he has always thought it was a huge shame that a K was never preserved, would have made an ideal sized loco for the Bluebell.
