I understand that MOSI is also arranging something and details need to be finalised before a Press Release is issued

As per the MOSI L&MR 180th thread elsewhere on this Forum- MOSI ARE holding a 180th event at Liverpool Road. This contradicts earlier posts but at that time the "powers that be" had yet to be persuaded to mark the occasion and it didnt look like anything would be done...!

    That changed...

Trains run 10am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th with "Planet" and "Rocket" (courtesy of the NRM York) and on Wednesday 15th from 12noon-4pm, 180 years to the day that the opening train first arrived at Liverpool Road Manchester after the historic journey from Liverpool Crown Street.

Re John Moss of Otterspool (1782-1858) Railway Pioneer, Slave Owner, Banker

    ISBN 978-1-4520-0444-0

I wondered whether anyone would be interested in my new book on the Liverpool & Manchester's first chairman, John Moss. This is highly topical, with the railway celebrating its 180th anniversary on 15 September. My book contains a chapter of more than 40 pages on the L&M as well as further chapters on the Grand Junction Railway, Railway Amalgamations and Foreign Railways - all of which Mr Moss was heavily involved in.

If you are interested, then please email me on g.or.c.trust@btinternet.com and I will forward further details of the book (a copy of the front and back covers, a synopsis of all chapters and the book's Introduction).

    Many thanks,

    Graham Trust

Well today is the 180th of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. Both Rocket and Planet are steaming and are likely being prepared as I type. For pictures and video why not head down and see these fine engines in steam with their own replica carriages at MoSI, Liverpool Road, Manchester. Both locomotives are also in steam this weekend. see the other 180th thread for full details.

    Regards
    Duncan
