As Leicester is in England not in the U.S.A., that is very unlikely. Leicester has a "Railway Station".

I have noticed that the BBC have started to use the term, "train station". BBC News 24 in normal daytime coverage within the last week. Far more meaningful to me as what's the point of going somewhere for rails. Much more sensible to go there for a train!

Languages constantly evolve and I suspect train station will gradually work it's way into everyday English.

As is the term "steam train" slowly replacing what us enthusiasts once insisted should always be "steam hauled train". Many of us still do use the latter, (I'm relaxed about it these days), but as we slowly move onto the great railway station in the sky with a constant procession of steam hauled trains, we will leave behind us such changes.

Does it matter weather I call it train station or railway station? They both mean the same thing. I was only asking a question? I wasn't after a matter of grammer opinion, some people need to get a grip and realise this forum is designed to give information about steam and diseal engines.

    LOL!

Well done Mike. To me no Forum is complete without a bit of humour and a bit of banter. I would find life unbearable without such things.

And talking of humour I reckon a good few people will have a very good laugh at my expense if I keep missing out of tours with locos nearing the end of their main line tickets, (as with 71000) because they have one of those box things on the end of the train. After much thought I'm giving this one a miss. Despite knowing a 1960s SR steam timer will be on board, and despite not having yet had a run with the Duke.

But I hope it runs well for all on board and that the noise of that thing at the back of the train, (if indeed it is going to be there all day, or even at all), isn't heard that often.

P.S. You can get sprays for most pests. i.e wasp spray, ant spray etc. Anyone invented a box spray yet? It would cut down my therapy costs for the regular bouts of boxphobia that I suffer from if you could just go up to the end of the train and spray the darned thing, and watch it collapse and die.

(That's a joke guys, not meant to offend box fans).

I hope to slip up to Waterloo or Clapham area providing 71000 is running to time.

May see the Sterling Single in action at the Theatre ( well you never know)

The outward journey is now via Staines, and not Slough, hence the lengthy time to Reading.

I went to Burcot on Friday filming diesels on the incline and was talking to another enthusiast who lives in Burcot. He said that the police had instructions to be out on Monday to keep the parking along Alcester road (B4096) sensible and dish out tickets where appropriate. So be careful.

Ok cheers for the heads up! think i'll probably go to the top of the bank nr Blackwell village, there is some parking along the road for the houses so might park there if there is room and it doesnt look dodgy.

Good day for burglars, rapists etc to be out in that area on Monday then. While our Constabulary attend to motorists who can mostly park quite well without the threat of tickets etc. Unless the local PCs are in fact steam loco photters......................!

Not everyone - those of us who have paid for the tour to run will actually be on the train!

By the way, we've just left Swindon more or less on time.
