Let's hope that it's nothing serious with the Duke.

This year is turning out to be a bad one in terms of loco problems and availability.

Late changes to tour timings, diesel assistance, changes to advertised loco ( some of which I know can't be helped sometimes ) and arrivals that are over an hour late at the end of the day have put me off booking anymore day trips for the time being.

Serves me right I suppose for relying on a non-GWR loco :eek:hwell:

Should have listened to Mrs Steve and booked behind 6024.

Think they'll offer us a fiver off another trip later in the season ? Hahaha

Warning - if you're seated near Coach C seat 7, just don't talk to me, right? I will be in a disgusting mood..... :argue: made worse by having to get up at half past five to get there....

Just giving it up as a bad job. Not worth the petrol money.

Is 47815 still in Barton Hill? And is it still banned from class 1 work?

What a difference a year makes. This time last year every train was running well and packed with passengers.

Let's hope the situation improves for the rest of the season. <BJ>

Well even last year they cancelled the trip we booked because of poor demand.

Anyway here we are at BTM and I confirm it's a bright orange DBS 67 on the front of the train.

Spoke with a man from 71000 team who says they found a flat on one of it's wheels late yesterday. "Major flat on the rear pony truck."

Sun's been shining here since early morn, clear blue sky with no hint of cloud whatsoever. :biggrin1:

At least you'll see some steam today.

Interesting, I wonder how that happened as I didn't think the rear truck wheelset was braked?

    Regards,

This info via the Railtours text messaging service would have been much appreciated by the expectant lineside viewers. Is anyone connected with The Torbay express registered with this site?

Why should people connected with the Torbay's be expected to send messages to a load of folk who contribute nothing.

Depends what info it is you mean. If it was the info that the tour was diesel hauled then here is the 1st railtour text message copied and

pasted from the Railtours live page. (08-08-2010 09:10 AM t0808k 71000 failed: diesel hauled.)

Whoever sent that may not be aware of the reason for the failure anyway, but at least they notified subscribers that the train would be diesel

hauled, which seems fair enough to me.
