There was a Mk 1 brake on the standard class end. The Mk 1 FK/kitchen was the barrier vehicle on the other end.

Thanks Nigel. So the leading standard class will be three back - not the best for a sound recording. Wonder why the FK is there, the support coach acts as the barrier vehicle surely?

The support coach was behind the loco both ways, so on the outward the last vehicle was the FK, i.e. a non-passenger carrying one.

My guess would be 5690, but would depend what's on the SSE next week as well?

OK, I know this is a little early, and WCRC have done a brilliant job of getting 46115 to replace Leander on todays SSE, but can anyone 'in the know' tell us whether Leander could be fit for this Sunday's Waverley?

I'm booked with my other half in dining, and after travelling third time lucky with Scots Guardsman on the Cotton Mill in July, we're looking forward to Leander over the settle and Carlisle....?

Reported that 46115 turned up on today's SSE and - failures permitting - will now work both Sunday's Waverley and next week's SSE. Classic combination - S&C + Waverley + Royal Scot.

The Waverley was never a 'Scot' job. usually a jube and a '5' or just the jube

From my days of travelling behind it this train was booked to 55A Holbeck therefore any Holbeck loco could be used - even A3s ( See Power of the A3s by Gavin Morrison; P69 with 60080; P79 with 60088 ). Royal Scots were regular performers as noted by David Jenkinson in Pwer of the Royal Scots on Plates 237 ( 46130 ) and Plate 246 ( 46113 ) Towards the end of steam I understand that the daytime Waverley sometimes had an A4 work the sleeper through from Edinburgh and return north on the daytime working.

shud have said, was never a REGULAR Scot jobbie, there were exceptions of course, especially towards the end of steam. Nice to see ur on your toes, and it IS good to see a Scot on the S & C. Listen to Peter Handfords Steam in the Hills, a Scot setting off over Ribblehead from a stand at Ribblehead station, pure Power
