I am sorry you feel it's a waste of money, Every time you see a tour go past, send in a text. There is only 780 people registered on the system at the moment, not enough I feel for a decent stream of updates. Tell people you see when you out photographing rail tours, the more people know the better.

I'm also sure that today many did know following the postings on here and other forums that 71000 had failed and as a result didn't go out , thus reducing the volumes of texts .

I also don't really get the point you're making. There were messages going out all day about the Torbay Express, all including the information that it was being diesel hauled, starting well before it had even departed Bristol. The problem if one exists is that the all those lineside viewers were not using the system so were not getting those updates, nor were they sending any.

If you have been out to see 4 tours and not sent in any updates yourself then you can maybe use some logic to figure out why the system is so far not proving as useful as we had all hoped. It's not the people running the tours that we need sending updates, it's the people like you and me and everyone else either at the lineside or on the train. The system is for OUR benefit when we're at the lineside, so it's up to us to make it work.

A gallery system will be up soon.

Is Railtour Live dead? Nothing I've sent today came through and I received no updates for either tour. Also when I wAs on Torbay on the 8th the texts seemed to have a few hours delay in the morning.

I sent a message at 8:55 regarding the Dorset Coast Express. Admin mentioned it was recieved by the system and sent out. The system requires users to send the text messages. Perhaps they need to get a support member on the tour to give updates??? The system is good when it is being used.

The forum addon is having a few issues, it is not part of the actual system but something I was trying. I will remove it and add a link direct to the forum.
    Sorry for problems caused.
I will also be adding an area so you can see text messages sent for each tour and also your text messages sent,.

If any member sees a tour go past, send in an update. it will keep many others informed. Indeed if your on a tour, an update every now and then would not go amiss either.

I was out for the VSOE trip today (20th August). I'd subscribed to the tour online but forgot to enter the code on my phone so I couldn't send in my update. I get a confirmation text with the tour code when I subscribe using my phone but not when I subscribe online. Any chance of having a confirmation text when I subscribe online, then I'll have a note of the tour code.

Did you get my two updates from Woking and Gomshall?

I only ask as I didn't receive any texts for the tour.

Nope, but by Woking I'd subscribed again as I'd got no updates. Sadly I entered t0820a instead of t0820b as I didn't know the code but I guess 6201 was already in Scarborough by then! I could have done with an update from Woking too so thanks for sending anyway Steve. Hope Admin can sort the confirmation thing.

Is it possible to be able to text something like "NATPRES codes?" if you find yourself in a situation like Swanny's, with the result that:

    - you get a text of all current tour codes
    - you receive all updates for every tour until you send in a stop message?

    So for example today:

    "NATPRES codes?"

    reply:
    t0820a The Scarborough Flyer
    t0820b VSOE Luncheon Special

    "NATPRES all stop"
    "NATPRES t0820b start"

This is just thinking out loud, it's probably making things too complicated....

Too many people are struggling still with just the simple star and stop codes, however it's getting better. I think half the issue was the directions on the website.

However that said, I could still add the codes key words and see what happens.

The ides of subscribing to multiple tours is something I am look to do. However I would like to see a lot more activity first.
