Appearances can be very deceptive, don't forget it also picks up at Wilmslow, Stockport and Huddersfield. The train was actually fully booked and several pay on the day passengers were only able to get seats because of the inevitable no shows, with 5 first class coaches and 4 second class, work out for yourself how many that comes to...

Actually I rang yesterday as we approached Marsden on the return when Frank told me he was not at Stally. We then lost contact. Now I take it that the post is to remind everybody and not just me that the next Stally meeting is a week Tuesday.

Thanks for the photos and videos guys, working aboard does mean you miss some of the action.
We had a good run yesterday and the train was fully booked with about 80 getting on at Wakefield. The only delay was approaching Wakefield on the return as we were running at less than 20mph on a series of single yellows with the reds in view in the distance. This dropped us to some 17 miutes down and despite efforts by Ron Smith and crew we did not seem able to recover much before the Denton water stop. Made up a bit there and eventually after the sprint from Wilmslow and running into Crewe without having to stop, ended only a few minutes down. Roll on the last one next Friday.

I have heard that Lizzie is not available for the last one on Friday, anyone know why?

Despite my dislike of stations I just had to catch this bit of history.

Check out the crowd lining the wall.

Two excellent shots as usual Stuart and as you say a bit of history including Bills probable last Scarborough departure. I guess there could have been over 150 lining that wall.
I would say that this seasons Flyers have been a great success with only the first couple comparatively lightly loaded, certainly after that they have been well patronised with at least the last three being fully booked.

It's only a pity that several have been blighted by being sent out of York on the return behind what I think is a coal train. This has on each occasion meant arriving at Wakefield some 20 minutes late and then because of this being held at Marsden to allow an Airport train to pass. Last night speedy watering at Denton meant that we recovered 10 minutes but further slow running to Crewe again made us over 20 minutes late...

Very nice shots Stuart. Have I read somewhere that the signal gantry is going to the North Yorks Moors, or have I got my wires crossed? (my short term memory at the moment is dreadful !!)

It is indeed going to the NYMR, LINK.

By the way Ralph, were you taking photographs from the train on departure?
