    A Thingy...
This has been mentioned briefly in other threads, but as we are not too far from release (sometime in November-December), I thought it might be time to start a discussion on the topic of 'one-off' models such as this. I have put an order in for 30585 just for the novelty of having a WT on my layout. Has anyone else considered ordering one? And what other 'one-off' models would be gratefully received by modellers? On a personal note, and being a biased Southern fanatic, I would personally like to see an Adams 0415 (Radial) 4-4-2T, or maybe a G6 0-6-0T (despite the fact that I doubt any of the eight survivors lasting into the 1960s sported the late BR crest). However, the real icing on the cake would either be one of the Urie large tanks, either H16 or G16.

I have ordered 30587, as I have a habit of tending to order engines that have been on the KESR! For me, it would be nice to have the 01 modelled. But, and I think this arrangement could do it, I would also like to see RTR Industrial engines, such as Manning Wardles. I think this is an area of our hobby far too often overlooked.

Nice to see that Kernow are keeping up the pace and have just announced an O2 and a Bulleid 1-Co-Co-1 diesel.

Very impressive as those models are and sorely tempted to buy one of each I am (first paycheck material there), why do Kernow insist on releasing both the Beattie and the O2 in BR liveries? both engines are LSWR originally, and both Hornby and bachmann release their models in both pre and post nationalisation liveries where appropriate (with Hornby releasing versions of the M7 and T9 in LSWR green). But then these aren't exactly meant to appeal to a wide audience with high prices and low build numbers.

I'll probably order a mainland version of the 02 next year. I'm a bit of an LSWR fan at heart, and this may mean that the Adams 'Radial' is in the pipeline for the near future.

I am curious to get opinions on the quality of the Dapol products from those who may have seen them. I have never seen/owned a Dapol locomotive, so i am concerned about a big spend when shipping/duty at Canada Customs are added in. Not meant to imply a lack of faith, as i have many Dapol wagons, but a wagon vs. a locomotive is a big step up in terms of detail and technical matters.

I am certainly interested in one of the Well Tanks as that small sized loco would be perfect for the small demonstration layout i am working on for my apartment and to take to events to display the HO scale versions of the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre's equipment. It would be nice to have a small UK locomotive to run, at the moment the smallest i have is a Bachmann Prairie tank.

I dont know about now, but Dapol models used to be a bit of crock (150/2, 155 and 124 transpenines are to go by).. I never bought a dapol model since then..

I think the situation has changed since then, particulalrly as they seem to be producing some excellent models in N gauge. I think that Dapol have started to turn themselves around, and they have certainly cornered the niche market with these new models. I hope they are as good as they are promising to be.

has anyone ordered one of these? I ordered the SR 3329 version along with the LSWR signal box. One a similar note has anyone ordered one of Model Rail magazine's dapol sentinal shunters? I've ordered the GWR version, it's the closest a RTR is going to come for a while I expect to manufacturing an industrial locomotive.

I have one 0298 on order since last August, 30585 to match the rest of my late-crested fleet. I'm tempted by an O2 as well, but I'd rather wait to get the 0298 first as money is limited at the moment.

The other Dapol engine currently being wheeled out, the Sentinal, is now being sent out to buyers. I had my money taken out this week so it should be in the post. They have also announced 3 or 4 new versions, including a LMS version and a lined industrial verson based on Isenbrook at the Buckinghamshire Railway Museum.

Is it only me, or does the chimney on the Well Tank model look a bit odd? It seems to have a pronounced tapered appearance towards the bottom. On my various photographs of the type, the taper is barely discernible... I think I'd better just shut up and be thankful that someone has had the courage to take on a complex project such as this. Looking forward to seeing 30585 plodding around my 6' x 4' (it'll be locomotive number 24). I'll have to invest in some more china clay wagons from Bachmann! In a few months, I think I'll place the O2 on order.

Final production examples have been delivered to Kernow; they look pretty good. However, delivery has slipped again to October, presumably to await shipping from China.

Is it just me or is the KMRC website constantly unavailable? Last time I could get on it it said that the Southern version was being shipped over with delivery mid october, with the BR versions just a bit behind. Still very excited about it though, hopefully if they sell every last one that will egg them on to develop more engines beyond the O2 (which I'll make a decision on when I've seen the 0298)
