    In my 4 years or so of YouTube-ing. I've found that if there is a steam special over Shap, or along the Dawlish sea wall, or tearing along the ECML you will probably be able to find some very high quality videos of these runs. But if there is a Cathedrals Express to Canterbury then you'll be hard pressed to find much more than 'average' videos. There will be plenty of videos of it dawdling through London shot on a mobile phone, there will be some not-too-bad videos, but no high quality videos like you see of trains on other regions.

    Why is this? Discuss.

    Not knowing the area at all, could it just be lack of really photogenic locations on the route, which means that no serious vidoer can be bothered to attempt a shot?

    not many good locations compared to the S&C etc plus more photographic possibly

    Those who have the inclination to invest in top quality video equipment also choose to spend the time and money to go to the better locations?

    Well much of the South East is awkward for railway videography. Here in West Kent it's largely quite built up and lines run in green tunnels. Get out towards the Medway towns and it does open up but still not as photogenic as the S&C.
