Has Mr Whiston double booked per chance??

His "other" railway seems to have its diesel (of course..) gala the same weekend as Whiston's debut in its completed green guise! :juggle:

Having read the thread recently though, its also given someone else the incentives to get the bloody painting finished after a year and 6 weeks in the process!!

A few things ticking over at the moment, Dubs is steaming on sunday - only its second as a complete engine. The slewing engine is connected and the pipework to the top of the jib for the hoisting engine - with luck we can test all major systems. Dubs will be bringing "Marston Thompson & Evershed No 3" in the workshop - be great to see things moving on this engine.

This weekend is our road steam event and will feature Bellerophon ( I think and subject to steam test ) and Bagnall 2842. If you fancy a relaxed weeked whilst waiting for the Ocober gala this is for you.

I believe Bellerophon passed its test with flying colours, Whiston's lining is almost complete, The "NCB" and whiston insignia is in the process of being painted on.

I did not realise we were recorded. This was only the engines 2nd steaming and its first to test the slewing and hoisting engines - if there is more footage it would be great to see as we did a good deal of shunting before heading off to the crossing.

She runs well, all we need now is a steel works !!.

    Dear all,

It looks like there will be an early morning photo event at the colliery on the Saturday.

If you would like details of this please pm me.

It will be nice opportunity to get some shots from the east side with autumn colours.

    Regards,

    David

Final plans are now being completed, final tweaks are being made to timetable which should hopefully be published next weekend!!! A downloadable copy will be available from the website hopefully from Monday should everything drop into place correctly.

Over the two days we will be fielding 7 engines* (Subject to repairs) with 6 in operation each day leaving us with one spare.

Passengers trains will run to Dilhorne Park and freights will run the full length of line each day, ALL DAY! This means we will have two freight sets out passing at Dilhorne Park...

On both days the freight sets will change depending on the locomotive at the head of them... Banking and Double heading will feature, with Bellerophon and Bagnall being banked over the crossing with their heavy passenger trains.

Whiston will have had it's shiny paintwork darkened by it's morning charter so will gather a nice coat of grime to work alongside Wimblebury*.

Dubs will have it's on bash on the bank with two runs with Bagnall banking one and Bellerophon the other over the two days.

We are still hoping to run a vintage bus service, negotiations are still taking place.

Classic Cars will be attendance over the event, most on Sunday courtesy of the Staffordshire Classic Car Club.

More attractions to be confirmed soon....

    Watch This Space!

Event Guides are now in production and will be available from the gate over the weekend. They are a bit more substantial and are full colour, a snip at just £2.

The timetable has had the movements for the charter added to it which sees the first train off Caverswall Road at 7am, a line freight to Foxfield! Whiston and Florence will take this, returning light engines at 9:30, Dubs leaves CRD at 8:30 and the first passenger train of Caverswall Road is at 9:30... With the last train on Sat returning at 20:45... I hope this gives you something to go by until the timetable is released early next week!

Tickets for the Real Ale Train at 19:00 are priced at just £5!

It's going to be a very intense weekend. May I be the first to say, good luck to our loco crews!

Also if you want to be on the morning charter involving Whiston and Florence P.M Hunslets Finest...

But you will still want to buy the guide as it is without doubt the best ever !.

NSR coach 061 is now sitting on its chassis and will be on display, the trust are ramping up - great to see. Also Marston Thompson & Evershed No3 has made it into the kipling for its return to working order to push ahead - another engine out of use for around 35 years.

Good news, Wimblebury has passed it's steam test and will be in traffic on Saturday, giving way to Meaford No.2 on Sunday.

Dubs will be strutting it's stuff around the colliery both days and will handle two small freights up the bank, an all time first for this loco...

Bellerophon and Bagnall 2842 should prove to be entertaining as they get their first single headed turns up the bank and without bankers...

Whiston and Florence will be featuring on a morning Charter at the colliery and will then take their place in the gala line up...

With an impressive line up of 7 engines I'm sure this will be a show to remember...

Hopefully from this event we will grow and maybe include some obscure visitors into future line ups... Watch this Space!
