I presume that is a Malongo weather report - It was pouring with rain on & off all morning in Llangollen.

What an amazing event it was this year! Great happy atmosphere, whistles thundering through the Dee Valley and magnificent steam effects....great, great, great gala!

What a fun gala to be involved in. One of the best LR have put on in a long time, and a great effort to celebrate 35 years worth of achievements. Such a shame though that our advertising was severely lacking, meaning there wasn't that many people there to join in the party. Hopefully we learn from this, and get it much better next time around.

The Hall is a fantastic bit of kit, and she is to be working trains next weekend. Had a fun day on the autotrain myself yesterday too, though feeling the tiredness now I've got home! Looking forward to seeing the pictures of those that did come, as they will hopefully show what a great event this was! Even the 14 went down a treat, a provided something different that was certainly appreciated by all of those that I spoke to.

Very enjoyable, but a pity about the variable weather (and the duff forecast). Never mind.

Super phots and vids Chaps, I was gutted I couldn't make it for a ride as a 'Civvy' for a change.

For others like me who missed this brilliant event, there is a mini-recreation! The little green machine will be at work on a four trip running day this coming Saturday, 18th September as part of 'Swindon Weekend'. D9521 will depart from Llangollen at 1030, 1200, 1400 ad 1600, whilst visiting 'Hall' 4953 Pitchford Hall will operate the 1100, 1300 and 1500. On Sunday 4953 will again operate the 1100, 1300 and 1500 services with the 109 DMU operating the diesel turns (not Swindon built, but a superb and highly rateable old bus nevertheless!).

A day rover ticket is available for £11 - not bad VFM for all that visiting haulage and a ride in some Art Deco-style DMU heaven!
