Do any of these strange vehicles survive in preservation? They were a 4-wheel flat wagon equipped with hinged buffers, jacks, and a removable wheelset at one end. They were used to load vehicles on to Warwell and Warflat wagons in the absence of end-loading docks.

MODA 95003 is listed as being preserved on the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway. I haven't ever seen it there, so it must be stored out of sight somewhere.

    Hope that helps

Thanks "P". Let's hope someone from the line can provide more information, as the website doesn't seem to feature a stock list.

Was that a ramp wagon or the German 2nd WW Track demolition wagon?
If the German wagon, were is it now?

    Re: MOD Ramp Wagons

Buried round the back at Winchcombe in mid-2006, I don't imagine it's moved but I haven't been to the G/WR since then. Was this an ex-BR wagon?

Is this the same one which was advertised for sale a few years ago? If so I tried to buy it at the time but it was then withdrawn from sale, presumably because the owner had some sort of new plan for it. (I have too many other projects now, so don't get ideas!)

With regard to the Army Transport Museum at Beverley, there was both a British Second World War ramp wagon and a German track wrecker that had previously been on display at Longmoor.

All of the WW2 ramp wagons were built by the Southern Railway, the early wagons having both axles removable and the great bulk of them having just one removable axle. They were originally numbered from WD-FVR-1 upwards (FVR = Fighting Vehicle Ramp). Some were bought as war surplus by BR and permanently coupled together to form twin bolster sets.

The museum at Beverley closed a few years ago. Am unsure what happened to the wagons.

    Greg Martin.

It's still about either in use up the extension or stored at Winch or CRC.
