61994 Movement Thornton-Barrow Hill

Just caught it at Flag Lane. Farington,south of Preston - running well & 15 mins up on schedule.

Why, just why, does this engine spend its time heading either North or South of the border only light engine whenever it makes such a move? Isn't it seen as being capable of working an excursion outside of Scotland?

 

Someone could do a tour from Barrow hill somewhere with 61994 give us a tour from Sheffield area !

One lives in hopes that sooner rather than later it will venture onto the Cambrian say Aberystwyth before the signalling system changes. At RA6 it is probably too heavy to cross Barmouth Bridge. The Central Wales line and /or Blaenau Ffestiniog are other options on lines similar to those it traverses in Scotland. However I understand after Barrow Hill it is go by road to the GCR and then onto Crewe for winter maintenance.
