Well,the timings for this are better that what was planned for last Saturday but not by much.The return from Newcastle to York is particularly dissappointing.
I bet no one expected to be arriving in Kings Cross at 23:22.Hope 19 actually makes the train and that it runs to time especially on the return.
By the way the best time to York is by 163 which has done KX to York with one water stop in a little bit over 3 hours.But this was on a Saturday and not a weekday.

I have still not received any times from Steam Dreams and am unable to access the website because of 'network issues'.

As a result of the late return I will not be able to travel as I am unable to get a service train home

 

Are you able to get a refund from SD if the actual times are vastly different from those projected?. I expect that a number of people will now find it 'a close call' getting home after arriving at KC.
A previous poster mentions that the original return times were handed back, as unacceptable, how much later was the proposed arrival time back at KC?

Very sedate ! I wonder if the timings would be better if Bittern were allowed to run at 90mph like , hopefully , Tornado will one day ? Are there pathing stops ?

 

I spoke to SD because the train arrives at Kx at 23:22, last train to Potters Bar 23:11. Don't fancy a night sleeping rough on Kx. Best they could offer was a transfer to another tour, BUT only 50% of the fare is transferred.

I agree the timings aren't the responsibility of Steam Dreams but what exactly are we supposed to do?

 

You can get to Crews Hill or Cuffley. Not so far from Potters Bar.

 

Last train from King's X to Potters Bar is 01.36. But yes, it's a lot later back than expected, especially if you have a long journey back home, and it's not non-stop from York either. Stops at north end of Retford loop on outward (10.59-11.25), Ranskill loop on the return (20.39-51).

I can't see how it takes so long for certain sections. 40 minutes Newcastle to Durham start to pass! That's nearly twice as long as the outward. Ho hum, more drinking time then I guess!

Well, www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk suggests taking the 0006 from KX to Enfield Chase arriving 0029,then Arriva bus 313 from Enfield Town at 0056 arriving Potters Bar 0108. Or if you have wheels just take the 0006 to Cuffley(3 miles from PB). Either of these would be a lot better than losing half your fare!

According to FCC's on line timetable there are trains to Potters Bar at 23:36, 00:36 and 01:36.

 

Oh, it's midweek, they're probably buses after 23.00. I didn't realise that was on this week. Timetable here

Looks like I won't be home til nearly 1am, even though I only live in Stevenage! Hopefully we'll get in a few minutes early and can make the 23.22. A friend lives in Biggleswade, if he misses that the next train is 00.36 and he won't be home til nearly 2am by the time he's walked back from the station!

 

There is currently a LOT of people following this tour, I hope that some members will send updates rather then just sit and wait for others to send the updates.

 

West Coast Railways class 47 plus 6233 and support coach through Keighley at approx 7.50a.m 30th Sep.

Currently sat opposite Doncaster RMT nearly an hour late. Poor coal cited as the reason. Also stopped at Stoke for a blow up.

 

Bittern through Doncaster at 13.05 1Hr 20Mins late. from friend on platform, not out for this and some people don't have money like me.
