We are planning to undertake a cosmetic restoration of Greenbat 420452 of 1979 for display in the Engine House at the Middleton Railway, Leeds. Before the locomotive was offered to us it lost the 'Greenbat' makers plates from the cab fronts. These are approximately 3 feet long with rounded ends and their place of attachment is denoted by the rusty patch on the cab front in the photo below. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of such a plate that we could borrow to make a pattern please?

Steeple Grange light railway appear to have a narrow gauge version with what looks like a Greenbat plate on one end - it may be the wrong size but if you can copy the design maybe it can be scaled up?

    That's too modern I'm afraid!

I have a poorly scanned image of what I'm after but don't know how to add files - help! I don't have a fotopic site either...

Thanks for all the info chaps. I will be paying ALR at Kirkstall a visit when I get a minute. Unfortunately none of the plates on the preserved shunters pages are what I am after! The plate seems to be unique to the later coke oven locos and I think we have the only one of those in preservation - the one at Armley Mills is much earlier.

A rather poor scan of what I'm after is attached - I hope!

Not strictly true, Ian! In the 1970's, Greenbat tested a couple of Locos destined for Hong Kong Metro at Middleton and they, too, had the same type of plate as the coke ovens loco. After this length of time, I'm not sure if it was exactly the same size as the Coke ovens loco, but wouldn't be at all surprised. There should be piccies of those locos in MRT Archives and I certainly have one.

Maybe I can get sizes etc when I go to Hong Kong next year!!!!!!
