Thanks for those Neil. Have you got one of an A2 leaving Leeds Central? That would bring back some memories.

Back to the Future, What is the current status of 60532 Blue Peter. I understand its owned by the Drury Family and maintained by the NELPG ?
The NELPG look after a number of engines, but i'm wondering how far Blue Peter is down the list (if there is a list) or whether there are any 'Campaigns' to raise the cash to steam her again in the offing...

There are various people/organisations ready and willing to promote 60532's overhaul. I don't think that finance is the problem. My understanding is that the sticking point of these schemes is with the owners.

Blue Peter is at Barrow Hill Roundhouse.
It is owned by the Drury Family and there is an agreement with the NELPG for the latter to be custodians of the locomotive.
There is no 'list' that Blue Peter is included on. The NELPG are currently overhauling J27 No.65894 and working on K1 No.62005. There are currently no plans for any work to commence on 60532.
A 'campaign' is an interesting suggestion, however, I will caution that it would have to be for a very large amount. Most campaigns (excepting the new builds) are for part-funding with the rest coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund. As a privately owned locomotive 60532 is not eligible (as I understand it) for HLF funding.

The positve from this is that at least she is under cover and looked after and available to be admired by the public.
Even this benign 'Storage' must cost something i would guess.
Just an observation that the complete abscence of even a tin for your change towards the upkeep of this lovely Loco is such a complete contrast to the fundraising whirlwind thats nurtures her Younger sister.

Many have had the notion that if ever 60532 did get an overhaul, the potential to benefit from the work done on 60163 or even a 'share a spare' boiler scheme could see them both running together. ...someday.

I think this is the scrap road.
