3 classic videos of the cauldon line should be up in the next week or so (including 37's as i already mentioned)

and yes the brake van footage was a projector box with a mirror in it which was recorded on tape then converted to digital.

luckily the next 3 videos are on Tape already so it will just need editing.

Were getting there, at mp 5 1/2, bridge 26 we replaced the longitudinal sleepers the others being well rotted. Fastened everything back in place, should be a nice smooth ride over there now. The weather was great, got a suntan today, the views excellent, hope it's like this for the gala, the weeks are flying by now.

Amazingly ........ YES! :faint2: Great day's graft and banter under the relentless sun and wide blue skies, that sleeper drill's a proper back-breaker though - glad I had a very hot bath later, so can still move - just! :bathbaby: See you next week?

Eh you 2 youngsters, I remember when I was lad, drilling the holes with brace and bit, working from dawn 'til dusk. Had to do 1/4 mile a day, (I think, memorys not what it was, let me see did I work on railways? or was I making sausages.?) anyhow 6x26x22=3432 holes. Just on bread and water (my god we were poor) with a knotted hankie to keep my brain from frying. I don't think it worked either. We finished the bridge and are waiting for??? Can't remember am going for a lie down.

Yeah I worked on the Peak Rail Darley Dale to Matlock relaying too. Hand sawing rail and then hand drilling the fish-plate holes witha ratchet drill. And yes, the chair screw holes were by 'brace and bit', all in the heat of the July sun. Was like a scene out of Bridge on the River Kwai!

yup, always make me smile when i go places like the battlefield line and see the old tools knocking around as to how we used to do it pre-road railer days!!!

has anyone uploaded any vid of the test train on saturday,i missed it as other engagements had me tied down elsewhere, believe it was a few more coaches, very frosty morning in the valley and there was much action to be had,any good clips out there?

The afternoon trip with Frank on the regulator was a lot more noisy. The early morning trip she struggled slightly with the rails being wet, but there was a good crowd out lineside watching us past. Not spotted any footage of the 9am train, but seen some of our crew training trips after.
