any ideas where the an valve in the cab will be going? In recent pics the pedestal looks as built. 76079 had the pedestal extended to take both valves, the Duke lost it's direct Vac valve. Can't remember where they put the air valve in NVR days, but wasn't aware of there being that much room on the left of the cab in a standard due to the reverser and ejector controls.

A small article in the latest Steam Railway mag suggests a test in the surrondings of the WCML?

Crewe to Warrington had been suggested but in days gone by the test route used to be on the Whitchurch line??

The last I heard, the light engine test run was to take place to Shrewsbury, then the loaded test run on WCRC's Carnforth - Hellifield - Preston - Carnforth circuit. Latest guess was first week of November, but usual disclaimers apply.

Info I have is that Brittania will be tested on the mainline to Warrington and back, and turning using Arpley/Lower Walton and the latchford runaround sidings on Tues the 9th November. no times as yet. Loaded test run is a Carnforth run. same disclaimers apply

efiste2 - indeed it now is.

Light engine Crewe - Warrington - Crewe on the 9th.
Loaded test run north to Carnforth on the 10th, back south to Crewe (not sure whether loaded or not) on the 11th.
The only thing I know time wise for the loaded run is there is a Carnforth - Crewe stock move leaving Carnforth at around 06:00 with coaches for the Brit to be tested with.

According to UK Steam Info 70013 is doing the "Cathedrals Express" from Kings Cross to Lincoln and 70000 is doing the "Lincoln Christmas Fayre" from Newcastle to Lincoln, both on Friday 3rd December.

I'm guessing that this is deliberate and they will meet, or have I gone completely nuts?!

Im not sure its 'deliberate' as such, that event usually attracts a number of charters so given the popularity of Cromwell before its issues and with both 7MT's back in action it was bound to happen sooner or later. Should make for some cracking photo's!

    Britannia is in steam today.
    ;
It is not possible to turn a locomotive anywhere in the Warrington area - it would have to go to Earlestown.

That suits me as I could see it at Winwick and then on the triangle at Earlestown or both ways at Winwick depending on times. Would the other option be to run tender first for either direction?

well the rumours up here include, 'not allowed solo on main line till boxes have been ticked' and 'it'll be dragged to carnforth tues late afternoon by a diesel thats taking a few carriages down to crew for some work on them on tues morning'. but if it gets the boxes ticked down there...
the more solid rumours are that its due teatime at carnforth tues, test run mid morning till mid afternoon wed, return later wed evening, as its been seen in steam, maybe someone will spot it down there today?.

If you have access to these timings it is acceptable to post outline timings for mainline tours/light engine/stock moves.

as I understand it, she is getting dragged by a wcrc diesal on tuesday to carnforth, loaded test run on wednesday, then returning to crewe wednesday evening, not sure if light engine or dragged

I don't think 'dragged' is the right word, she will be in steam and no doubt doing some work as
the run up to Carforth will be considered a light test run.

I take it then, that the Crewe - Shrewsbury line will not be used for her trials after the Carnforth runs?
