    Cheers for that time,

just seemed weird that lyd was given number 14 when even i could of guess that there were some more numbers closer to 1 than 14....i guess 13 isnt occupied because its unlucky....wasnt russell and model tryfan one number 11 and 12 or 13 and 14....?

The full list is something along these lines:

1 - Mountaineer (England) then Princess
    2 - Princess then Prince
3 - Prince then Mountaineer then Livingston Thompson/Taliesin/Earl Of Merioneth (Mk 1)
    4 - Palmerston
    5 - Welsh Pony
6 - Little Giant then nothing
7 - Little Wonder then Taliesin (Single Fairlie)
8 - James Spooner then nothing
9 - Taliesin (Single Fairlie) then nothing
    10 - Merrdin Emrys
11 - Livingston Thompson then Russell then Moelwyn
12 - Moel Tryfan then David Lloyd George (with a large period of nothing in the middle)
    13 - 590 then nothing
    14 - Lyd

Earl of Merioneth (Mk 2), Linda, Blanche, Mountaineer (ALCo), Britomart, all the other diesels etc etc etc have never carried FR Co. numbers, nor had them officially allocated.

Why has LYD been numbered now when others havent? or could this be the case as with talisin that because she was built in boston lodge works that she is allocated a number?

Earl of Merioneth has No 11 works and number plates they were fitted the week before the vintage weekend and immediately taken off. The looked awful.

I didn't realise EoM had been given a number, though I can imagine that the plates (same style as on Tal and DLG?) wouldn't fit with the loco as is. About time!

Taliesin has got the number from the original loco, which was built by Vulcan Foundry, not Boston Lodge, as she (he?) is classified as a rebuild, rather than as a new loco.

There's a difference between a works number and a fleet number. (And Russell was No 12 in the combined fleet list.)
