Looks like it is a test run but it does say ECS also so could be a loaded a loaded test run. Maybe if Kevin ( Saltydog) logs on he may be able to post an explanation.

Two runs for 45305's mainline test. Tyseley to Stratford. First LE run leaves Tyseley at 1345. The ECS run leaves Tyseley at 1900. Both ways via North Warks line I think.

Many thanks 'campainar', living not far away think I might find a nice little bank to sound record the return from Stratford. Any time changes would obviously be very welcome. Thanks again.

How many main-line registered Black 5's are there now? Five? Maybe there would be a railtour using them all.

Five (44871, 44932, 45407, 45231, 45305) or six if you include 45428 which is passed to operate on the Esk Valley line. 44767, 44806, 45212, 45337 and 45379 are also all now in service on preserved lines. I believe there are plans to fit 44767 with the gubbins to allow it to operate on the Esk Valley.

Which other 5s are likely to run in the near/foreseeable future? 5025? 45491? Is 45110 on the Severn Valleys overhaul schedule?

I apologise this is a little late . rather hectic last 5 days so here is my effort of the test run at Shirley , as 45305 becomes the last steam locomotive signalled up the North Warwickshire Line

Wonderful departure from Shirley which truly marked the passing of the signalling . Speaking with the signalman a couple of nights later , a friend of his with no knowledge of 45305's working was out walking the dog and suddenly heard the sound of steam as she accelerated away towards yardley wood . The sound carrying on a still winters night . Magic was his description
