So I have to buy a day rover in order to gain access to the colliery, without riding the trains?

    Cheers,
    Lewis

    Lewis,

Yes you need to buy a ticket to access the colliery. The highlight of the gala for most is not riding the trains but watching the freights climbing the bank.

I always buy a ticket and rarely travel on the trains. It is fantastic value for the show and easy access you get, with which only a few other railways can compete.

In comparison to travel costs to the event, food etc it isn't a lot to ask for what is usually such a good event.

    Regards,

Thanks for your very comprehensive reply "RH No. 6". Just what I was looking for. I shall definitely be there on Sunday as the weather forecast is currently looking quite good. Looking forward to the spectacle. Thanks very much indeed.

Like the Summer Gala, will there be an 18 wagon freight at the end of each day?

    Thanks,
    Lewis

I spent Saturday at the railway and once again a great show was put on. Thanks to everyone involved for making it an enjoyable day and to David Fletcher for organising the morning photo charter. My second visit to the railway when Dubs has failed to show. I'll catch up with it at some point.
My photos from the day can be seen on my fotopic site.

I have to say...Foxfield is one of the most friendly railways who definitely know how to throw a gala!

Spent an amazing day in the sunshine today watching some spectacular performances

Very enjoyable day at Foxfield today. Dubsy being the star of the show for me. Nice to have a chat with Glenalmond in between the exciting bits. Pics to be uploaded later.

Just wondering why Dubs was running with the crane jib pointing backwards?

    A wonderful day at the Foxfield on the very sunny Sunday. Thanks to all involved at the railway for the hard work involved in planning the gala and putting on such a great show. My video featuring shots around the colliery and Foxfield Bank can be found here;

Ah - silly me. Should hav thought of that. Will be interesting to compare the performance logs and see how coal and water consumption was reduced. :eek:hwell:

    Well that's all folks!

Firstly a great big thank you to all those who came and supported our first ever Autumn Gala, it was a great success.

Next year, we will be holding it around the same weekend so make sure your around to watch another great show which I'm sure will not disappoint, especially if we get a "DIFFERENT" visitor in for the weekend...

What I would like to know though is YOUR thoughts about the weekend, then we can only make it better for an even more enjoyable weekend.

The timetable was different and certainly kept our crews on their toes with very few delays, but this was due to the timetable needing a few tweaks which will be resolved for next year.

So again thank you and we'll see you all again very soon!

    Rich

I loved the differing freights throughout the day, a completely different look to the railway from the Summer Gala which was great! Furthermore, the gaps between freight trains up the bank enabled us to ride the trains too which was thoroughly enjoyable. Maybe next time some LE running in between the freights out of the colliery to reduce the time limit between trains and to keep the crowds even more entertained?

    Great gala overall though!

Thanks Lewis, next year we will see what we can do!
We are already looking at ideas, the bar last night was full of energy and inspiration ready for next year. We can only grow on what has been a great weekend!

Very much enjoyed Dubsy shunting and lifting in the colliery yard. Whilst the freights were short, they made a change from the mineral trains that the Summer Gala majors on. Once Dubsy's crane is fully certified it will be interesting to see a decent load lifted.

Great event and special thanks to all those that supported the charter on Saturday.

Can not believe such a complicated timetable worked so well.

Only disappointments were no Dubs on Saturday and no all line coal trains. Liked the van train but for the first regular all line freights Florence, Whiston and Wimblebury would have looked lovely with a short rake of grey minerals and the Littleton style brake. Perhaps next year have one of each?

    Will post some pics tonight.

    Cheers,
