Had another great trip on Saturday, some of the best handling i have seen on the struggle up to Buxton with Bill Andrew on the reg. Well done to all involved, another fine tour. One part i particularly enjoyed was storming up the bank out of Sheffield with the noise echoing throughout the industrial estates and then waking the ghosts as we raced past the former Darnall MPD!

You can see what i mean in part 2 of these vids that i have just uploaded of the return run.

Alberta: You would have passed the sites of two Sheffield MPDs. Darnall, (LNER) on the left as you came into Sheffield outbound, and then as the train left Sheffield up the bank to Dore & Totley you would have passed Millhouses MPD ( Midland)on your right side.
Not sure what if anything remains of either depot though. Millhouses survived for many years in use as a (non-railway)engineering works.

I presume it was you who I spoke to briefly, before finding position myself?
I spotted the landcruiser while on the bike,so decided to steer well clear.

    Thanks for the kind comments,Mrtin

If you spotted a Black Cat that was us - and as a rural landowner myself with half a mile of rail frontage I can happily say that I have never gone after fotters, twitchers etc, who do no harm - but poachers who wouldn't move when challenged - 250 gallons of slurry at full power soon had them running - :rain: :pound:

Yeah,i didn't notice Millhouses but did notice the site of Darnall, mainly an industrial estate but the exit from the depot to the main line can still clearly be seen.

The reason i made particular reference to Darnall was because of the way the loco stormed past in the evening,as if to taunt its LNER counterpart, the B1....

Millhouses was there earlier in the year hidden from the line by trees, it has been empty for a couple of years now and if it hasnt been demolished by now then it will be very soon, as it is now in a very poor state after the locals have been playing in it.

Cheers for that Mark, shows how difficult it got in places and i have no doubt would of defeated a lesser driver than Bill's mastery.

One can only take so much - Grammar Nazis on parade please!!!

Ignoring the lower case "i" "would of" instead of "would have" would consign any CV or job application straight to the wpb if received by me!
