Maybe convince James May to buy enough Bachmann A1 sets so that he could build a real one :)

Which sadly rules it out of visiting Giants of Steam at the Bluebell next year but i'm sure she'll go there one day.

Maybe the Bluebell Railway didn’t request the use of Tornado for next years Giants of steam gala? From reading the thread about this years Giants of steam gala. Regarding the issue of non availability of large locos. Maybe the Bluebell Railway management are contemplating dropping the name and renaming their autumn gala?

It was a year ago today that Tornado hauled 11 coaches over the long, steep and twisting incline to Sapperton whilst en route from Goucester to Swindon and London .....and there was no diesel tucked behind the tender. <BJ>

here here, free to grice, yes on diesel on a lovely sunny day as i remember, unfortunately i wasn't at sapperton but over on gomshall bank.we seem to have gone 'diesel assistance' mad this year,a lot of the summer and now the autumn.the recent run to minehead,a heavy train admitted, compared with black 5 5305 was allowed to run over the very steep gradients to buxton, with a load of 10 coaches!!! in pretty foul weather i believe, unassisted!!

Just a timely reminder that there is a whole thread dedicated to diesels on steam tours where members may like to vent their wrath (or otherwise) over this popular/unpopular subject.

Any idea when Tornado will be registered by WCRC. Start of next year after the repaint? Hope it will haul a RTC Bath and Bristol tour next year from Haywards Heath.

I was hoping to see it on one of the Christmas Cathedrals that goes through Hastings and Tunbridge Wells etc but its on a Monday and although I have Mondays off of College I have no means of getting anywhere.

And she's heading back to the NYMR, now for a North Eastern Region gala, 9f, Q6 A1, and a 4mt, J72, if the K1 can visit then it'll make up properly for a slow & dirty gala!

It might do as its first mainline tour back isn't until 26th February but I don't know when the repaint will begin.
