Heres my pic as the train rolled past Milton (just north of Cambridge) following a service train. Shame the sky is blown out but it was a tough exposure. Of course, the sun came out a minute or two after it passed. Nice touch with the poppy on the front.

Just popped to see it water at Harlow. Was a few minutes down but the water stop was quite quick so they may have made up some time. About 50 or so on the platform so word had obviously gotten round. Tanker driver admitted he was a little confused and asked me if he was on the right platform, which luckily he was.

    Very impressive sight.

Went out to see Tornado at Whittlesford,Thetford Forest and Eccles Road.

Especially nice at Eccles thanks to the fact that I was virtually alone on the station bar one other chap!

How did they do the manoeuvring at Norwich? Did they have a shunter there to drag the train out to let Tornado run round the triangle?

Nice video Mark, and nice pics from Keith and Peak, thanks all of you

For those whom live along the Totenham Hale to Cambridge section Tangmere supposed to be going thru on 15th December. We get so little steam up that line that its always worth mentioning it early. Is it only 3 steam tours in 5 years now on that section ? If it isn't, it certainly feels like it ;-)

Despite the terrible weather in the morning and the problems at Broxbourne (sorted by the time we headed that way) this was a good run to Norwich. The outward run was a bit of a trundle but we did manage a max of 78mph before getting to Norwich. The return run was a bit more lively in the dark. Tornado had a bit of trouble getting out of Highbury and Islington with a big slip but then she was masterfully handled and sounded excellent powering through the cutting. Interesting also to pass through the Olympic site at Stratford. A good day although we didn't get home until 00.30 on Friday morning.

Is it me or does Tornado's chime whistle sound different? If so, anyone know how or why?

Nice vid Mark. I was interested to see the Bobby come out of the box to manually open the gates at Eccles Road.
Didn't realise that still happened on the big railway.

Cheers Kevin. Yeah i was interested to see that too. Was great to see though, amazing that the only lights in the village were those on the station, which were also controlled by the signalman, who put them on for me,for which I am very grateful!

Quite a dangerous job too as cars were coming down an unlit road to find a man in an orange jacket walking towards them with a gate!

Was a real time warp. Especially as i was the only person there!

    Cheers,
    Mark
