You did better than me then, as I said in my previous post I was told they did not have any left to send so had no choice but to do a 6-7 mile round trip to town to buy one. Luckily W H Smiths had a few left. How can they justify saying there were no distrubution problems when there are several people who mentioned non-receipt problems on this thread alone, let alone any other people are not forum members or who have not posted.

I did ask them if they had changed their distribution method, they advised there had been no changes but they would ask the Royal Mail to investigate my non delivery problem.I will await the outcome.

If Gary could be accused of bias, it would be to narrow gauge - as it was he who set up the Ashover Society, and we have both been Talyllyn volunteers since teenagers. He also was a long serving Cadeby Light Railway man, and cut his teeth as a volunteer with the one time Coventry Steam Railway Centre.

You can't argue with the definitive report that Mr. Notley has given. 5043 is a remarkable engine, probably one of the finest Castles ever built.
She spent most of her life shedded at Old Oak where nothing but the best were kept for express passenger workings.
    13 March 1936 - 17 March 1951 and February 1956 - 3 March 1960.
So the Old Oak people must have been mightily impressed with her.
Any non believers among you, I suggest you keep an eye on the VT web site for the coming year. :tape:

You're lucky, mine still hasn't arrived. I'll check back at home later after the post arrives about 12.30 and then if still not arrived I will make a phone call. However, as a previous poster has said, they appear to have run out so i will demand a refund then go and buy it from my local Smith's. it was late last month as well so i'll consider not renewing for next year.
    regards Brian

Mine arrived today, and I live in New Zealand. Last month it took over a week to arrive.
I used to live in Streatham and it often turned up days after WHS had it. I moved to Brighton and they always arrived on time. Different areas seems to be slower than others.

It seems the delivery issues are not localised, I live in Reading & there are reports on here from other parts of the country about non delivery. It seems strange that the Post Office in various parts of the country "lose" the magazine. Other mail seems to be getting through ok. I think it is a publisher problem. Regarding a refund, what they say is that they will add another issue to your subscription, is you buy the current one from a shop.

Just out of interest - how many of us still buy increasingly expensive magazines with their rice paper pages, photoshopped images, and questionable journalism, when so much instant news, better colour reproduction, and an exchange of views is so freely available on the Net?

I gave up years ago - and don't feel any loss.

    A poll perhaps?

Ah, yes - Streatham sorting office! I've had mail taking days or weeks to arrive, even when they didn't have any industrial "action" going on. You are probably getting your mail faster in New Zealand than we do in SW16. :mmph:

My copy finally arrived this morning, having taken as long to arrive in Loughborough as the copy which arrived in New Zealand!:clap2: I was just about to give in and ring up too......:cell:

You know, it's not always the publisher. I have a friend who's a postie, and he was telling me that from time to time, they just get hit by a whole load of magazine subscription deliveries all at once, and they are very bulky and heavy. They prioritise the other lighter mail, and if that means it takes several days before they have shifted the magazine pile then so be it. I think to the way they see it, magazine deliveries are not as time critical as other post so they just take as many in their bag as they can fit in that day.

Just telling you, don't flame me for it :nono:

And it still hasn't arrived so I rang them up to complain. After waiting at least 5 mins to get through due to exceptional customer demand, I spoke to Roxanne who hadn't heard of any problems but she will now investigate !!!!! and she will send another copy out to me. I will see what happens. But will I miss the Beano if I don't get it ??

    Regards Brian

I thought it was a serious offence to wilfully "delay the Queen's mail". We seem to to having postal issues here as well, 1st class mail taking more than a day to arrive, used to have a regular postman - now a different one each week/sometimes every day. Delivery times all over the show, used to be a regular time now expect it when you see it, Saturdays are particularly bad - used to arrive around 8am, now sometimes it is 2pm! What is happening with the Royal Mail? Used to be pride of the country. Can't whether this is the cause of my magazine non delivery though.

How come I was told yesterday they did not have any more to send? Had to go & buy one. Can't even get their stories straight. It seems everyone, including myself, who calls them has to wait a long time to be answered. Doesn't that tell you something?

I wonder if it's not geographic, but alphabetic....

I'm In London, and someone else mentioned Loughborough but New Zealand correctly would arrive after mine.. and Brighton "was always early"..
Wonder if they ran out of copies and had to run off some more ?
