Last Thursday I was at a very murky Churnet Valley Railway for a photo charter with 34028 'Eddystone'. The weather was far from ideal for photography, however, the crew ensured that we had plenty of entertainment with the modified Bulleid in top form. Thanks to all involved for their efforts on the day.

My photos from the day can be seen on my fotopic site.

^^ Love this shot - think the conditions add to the atmosphere. There is definately something about the rebuilt Bulleids which really appeals when shot near head-on through a long lens.

    P.S: I think it'll look even better in b/w...?

Hi all, Thanks for your comments which are much appreciated.
Fred, I think the settings on that pan shot were 800 ISO and 1/20 at f.9.
I tried several other settings on the day but that one was the most pleasing. I just love those BFB wheels on a pan shot.

    Regards,

    Paul

Paul - thanks for the shutter speed. I don't know about your experiences but I am finding that lens options ( especially those with Vibration Reduction options ) make finding a shutter speed difficult for panning shots; as such all opinions / experiences welcome to see if it's just me with the problem.

Hi Fred, I just leave the Vibration Reduction on and go as slow as I dare with the shutter speed. After that I think it's about picking up the train's speed and trying to maintain your movement in line with the train. If at first you don't succeed..............

    Good luck,

    Paul
