One of the problems is so I've been told is that a TOC can claim compensation for delays caused by a special but not the other way round. To be honest specials were subject to the same sort of nonsense even in BR days. More than once I've been on a run that's sat waiting for a delayed all stations stopper to be sent in front of it.

 

Is it usual for Cathex to go via Gascoine Wood Junc.? Is it a pathing diversion to free up the ECML? Lovely shot, near Hambleton?

 

I assume it must be something to do with freeing the ECML, I can't think of any other reason, it's certainly not scenic.

A couple of weekday ones have,i believe gone that way during the last couple of years,i'd say 3-4 in the last 2 years? I know that we did it on GB3 this year.
