    First Group have intimated that when the FGW franchise comes up for renewal in 2013, they propose to offer through services via Taunton to Bishops Lydeard (WSR). This may well be an extension of the existing Cardiff-Taunton service. There are also proposals to make Bishops Lydeard a park-and-ride station to relieve traffic congestion on the approaches to Taunton.

    That sounds promising for access to the WSR. Thinking in reverse and in a green way, perhaps the railway could offer a deal to "ride and ride" passengers who take a WSR train to BL instead of the family car.

    When we open next April, The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will connect with the East Midlands Trains service from Nottingham to Matlock. Very fortunately, their services pretty well pass one another at Duffield where our line shares a station with the Big Railway, so that leads to a very straightforward operation for us.

    We won't be operating a 365-day service when we start (76 days in 2011 by my count) but we are building-up a service that hasn't operated since 1947. Nonetheless, we regard working with EMT as being a crucial part of our offering.
