Quick question to people who have booked onto this trip like myself, has anyone recieved there tickets yet? I know they are usually issued ten days out, but with the weather and everything with posting etc. Just thought I'd ask.

I have it on good authority the tickets have not gone out yet - I believe VT are still waiting for acceptable times. They are coordinating the event with Chiltern, so there might be a little too-and-fro....

    The trip WILL run!

I am sure it's not too late for suggestions.....

My vote goes for a non-stop Cheltenham Flyer!

Ticket update..... The revised times were confirmed late Friday. Tickets going out Monday by 1st class post.

Also, for a while UK Steam showed the departure time from Moor St as 7.37am. These times are NOT correct! I'm not getting up that early!

We are leaving Moor St approx 40 mins later than 7.37......

Brill idea! - but prefer the Cheltenham Spa Express version if 5043 to be used - with a black 9466 on the Cheltenham to Gloucester leg and as many choc/cream Mk1s as poss in the set. Non stop (after Stroud or Kemble would be good though!).

    Where do we book??

The non stops are expensive enough to run (judging by the Bristolian) without adding the hire of a rake from Riveira on top when Tyseley has a perfectly good Railtour set.

Is Paddington doable with one water stop via Reading or are two required ?,

Vintage Trains wouldn't hire stock. Why should they? Also, none of the Tyseley locos are Air-braked, nor are there plans to do so.

There are some non-stops in the planning stages for 2011. The only financial consideration is do you take the water carrier or a revenue generating coach?

As I said, I am pushing for a Cheltenham Flyer, but that's only because I like going up Sapperton Bank and annoying my Sister who lives in Chalford!

Don't worry - Vintage Trains have some fun stuff planned for 2011.

Ps - Birmingham Moor St to Paddington via Banbury, Oxford & Reading next weekend with one water stop, so very doable non-stop with the water-carrier.

The original "Inter City" was via Bicester, wasn't it? Was it non-stop Paddington - Snow Hill or did it stop in the suburbs?

If I remember rightly, the Down Inter City used to stop at Aylesbury, and the Up Intercity used to stop at Leamington and Aylesbury.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I certainly remember the down being a one stopper and the up being a two stopper.

The Inter City was a Paddington-Wolverhampton train. It ran via High Wycombe not via Aylesbury.

Pretty sure it was via Bicester, would of stopped at Snow Hill between Paddington & Wolverhampton Low Level but unsure if it called anywhere else, not really possible to start from Wolverhampton (high level) and call at Snow Hill now without a reversal at Galton or Bordesley Junctions.

24 minutes - phew! Today Chiltern quotes 39 minutes (with stops), but even Crosscountry's non stop from New Street to Leamington isn't that quick! Perhaps Mr Shooter should consider some GW Castle's for "Evergreen 4"?
