44932 is now rostered for the trips on the 15th & 17th December, according to the Steam Dreams website.

I was talking to one of the team looking after Tangmere who was on the Cathedrals Express to Sherborne yesterday who advised that she should have had her steam test yesterday. Then there is the load bank test and finally the repaint. She will not be seen on the mainline until 2011 but considering the work they have undertaken, the wait should be worth it.

As 37372 doesnt need it's PU any more it's been transferred to Tangmere and has secretly been fitted with a class 37 power unit underneath the casing so people dont complain about the box on the back any more :)
    retreats in haste. :flame:

Maybe the poster means a loaded test run (i.e. Carnforth-Hellifield-Preston-Carnforth test run).

Great news! I shall keep a careful eye on UK Steam's loco movements page in the coming weeks. A loaded test run would be worth a trip "oop north" to record.

I should think it will be in Brunswick again- it just wouldn't look right having 'Sunshine' yellow 'go-fasta' stripes without the full tender raves, unless that's exactly whats been done!

Can't think of any other livery that David Smith or his mate that owns Tangmere would have any other colour than BRBrunswick

BP - Yes. But some non-8Ps did carry BR Blue - remember the Rheidol in the 70s? So, Tangmere in Large Logo Rail Blue. Hmm. Perhaps not!

I know, but it'll look nice! Disengage the 'historical accuracy' aspect for a moment and just imagine the aesthetic.. lol

I tried doing that on here once... it was the worst five days of posting and counterposting in my life! I'm sure it would look nice. Weren't the VoR locos painted in BR 'corporate' blue livery with the 'Arrow of Indecision' on the water tanks? To me it looked hideous, but they were painted that colour by BR, and so I have no problem with that. At the end of the day, its a lick of paint, I suppose... ;)

Ha ha ) Just to clarify I was suggesting the early BR lined 'caledonian' blue as worn by 35005 some years ago. From pictures it seemed to suit the original MNs so well that I can imagine an original WC/BB will look rather dandy decked out in that livery too!

Going further OT ref the VoR locos, they wore various versions of BR blue, one of which included cast metal double arrows on the cabs.
