Second time it's happened to 60163. Are they still working through the same batch of iffy coal?

Yes - it all fell apart after Guildford when we struggled to keep rolling and barely made it up Witley bank. After 20 minutes raising steam at Witley for Haslemere bank we just made it over the top at 11 mph. Contrast that with a storming climb up Buriton in the morning - 38 over the top with 490 tons behind the tender. Possibly another example of what can happen after 10+ hours of continuous steaming when there is no real opportunity to sort out the fire.

Well I read that after the problems on the return from Scotland they emptied the tender of all that coal. I would be really surprised if they then refilled it with the same stuff, especially as they had sent samples away for chemical analysis.

Though when she sat for 20-odd minutes at Woking yesterday, we were idly speculating if that was to get the boiler pressure back up.

No - Woking northbound was to take water. No steaming problems till after Clapham in the evening.

We had intended to go up on the Uni bridge but due to the conditions decided not to bother and stayed on Platform 4 at Guildford. It wasn't that great there either as the mist was so thick! Various announcements came over the tannoy about the delays but still don't know why she was late on the outward run. Still, a good departure from the station and we listened to her power away in the mist. Pics to follow later.

Good shots, I was standing next to you on Yorkies Bridge, got the 11.02 to London and it was still at Woking. Bearstead was good along with Orpington .

Coal problems again. As Steve said yesterday Tornado had a green for most of its time at Woking and speculating what might have been wrong though thats been answered. She didn't seem too bad at Clapham and she made up about 5-10 minutes arriving there.

I saw a video on Youtube from Hastings and she didn't seem too fast.

Yes back again in the morning, I believe the stock & loco are being dragged via Guildford before the start at Shalford.

Late running was because the schedule up the Pompey direct was impossible to keep time on and at Haslemere there was a false start because a few passengers hadn't yet boarded.
